Aziridine derivatives R 0040Azirinium Ylides from Alkoxycarbonylcarbenoids and 2H-Azirines: Generation and Transformations. -Azirinium ylides, generated by Rh-catalyzed decomposition of diazo esters in the presence of 3-arylazirines like (VIII), undergo isomerization into azabutadiene derivatives like (IX) as well as react with excess carbenoid to give dihydropyrroles (X)/(XI). The product ratio depends on the amount of diazo ester (IIa) used. Azirinium ylides generated from diazo esters (II) and 2,3-disubstituted (IV) or 2,2,3-trisubstituted azirines (I) provide mainly azabutadiene derivatives. Exception is the reaction of azirine (IV) and diazomalonate (IIb) which affords the unexpected azetine derivative (VII). The reaction mechanism is discussed in detail. -(KHLEBNIKOV, A.
