Technical and economic indices are presented for OAO Dinur operation in 2005 -2007. The most promising developments and test results are covered in the field of trough low-cement and ultralow-cement corundum mixes, mullite-corundum refractories, corundum-graphite objects, sets of ladle refractories for furnace-ladle units (FLU) based on high-alumina and periclase-carbon-containing objects. Refractory grades MLP and MKP-72 based on andalusite for lining anode firing furnaces are presented as an advanced development. The contemporary state of the Russian refractory industry, its production capacity, the level of technology and product quality make it possible to satisfy successfully the needs of domestic metallurgy, to resolve new tasks, and to introduce new high-quality technology rapidly. Enormous experience has been obtained of work under market conditions: at first there was a drop in production, then recovery, renewal and improvement of production units and products under stringent competition with overseas enterprises, i.e. refractory producers.OAO Pervoural'sk Dinas Plant is one of the Russian Federation industrial enterprises specializing in producing refractories and refractory materials for the glass industry, metallurgical production, and embracing within its range, coke by-product, blast furnace, rolling, steel-pouring and agglomerated lime production. The enterprise has experience and production resources for the building industry, it is prepared to present to the market results of development of modern technology in the field of refractories for nonferrous metal producers and the cement industry. The level of technological development and engineering equipment of OAO Pervoural'sk Dinas Plant makes it possible to provide customers with high quality products competitive with respect to the well-known refractory producers of Europe, China and Japan (RHI, Vesuvius, RI, Mayerton, Dalmond, Choe Sun, Duferco, Shinagava, TUK), and also in the RF (OAO Bogdanov Refractories, Borovich Refractory Combine, OAO Semiluk Refractory Plant, OAO Snegirev Refractory Plant, OAO Kombinat Magnezit, OOO Nikomogneupor). The main customers of OAO Pervoural'sk Dinas Plant are all the large metallurgical enterprises of the Russian Federation and a number of enterprises abroad (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Poland, Egypt).OAO Pervoural'sk Dinas Plant is dynamically developing production, specified by an increase in the volume of product and the main financial indices since 2005, and the plant may be characterized as a flexibly transforming enterprise with changes in the competitive market with a capacity to complete its orders under different market conditions. By predicting even in 2005 a sharp reduction in orders of dinas refractories, collectives of the enterprise set up new forms of products that made it possible to increase the number of orders for ladle carbon-containing and high-alumina refractories, to obtain orders for corundum-graphite objects for steel pouring, high-alumina refractories for blast furnace operation and...
Information is provided about melted refractory materials described by the system MgO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 whose large series production is organized in the OAO Pervoural Dinas Brick Plant. Characteristics are given for the material composition and properties of melted white corundum, alloyed corundum, spinels and silica glass.Currently in all technically developed countries and in Russia production of highly wear-resistant oxide-carbonaceous refractories is based on using high quality synthetic and enriched natural mineral starting material. Artificial refractory starting materials are obtained by three main methods: chemical, solid-phase high-temperature sintering and melting. Inorganic products of chemical synthesis [1 -5] have the dispersed size of crystals (from fractions to several microns) and a developed specific surface. The size of crystals in sintered materials is as a rule two to three orders of magnitude larger than that of similar products of chemical synthesis. Melted materials are characterized by a coarsely crystalline structure (apart from glassy silica) with a crystal size from fractions to several centimetres, i.e. exceeding sintered sizes by two to three orders of magnitude, and with low porosity. It is well known that about 60 -70% of refractories in service fail as a result of chemical reaction with liquid, gaseous, and solid substances. Since the rate of dissolution, evaporation and chemical reaction of refractories with corrosive media is inversely proportional to the crystal size, the most corrosion-resistant are dense coarsely crystalline melted materials. On the basis of many comparative industrial tests in service it has been established that the corrosion resistance of melted materials is higher by 30 -60% than for sintered materials. In accordance with the development program a plant in OAO Dinur is carrying out continuous expansion of the range and an increase in the volume of output for contemporary refractories using melted materials of in-house production. In OAO Pervoural Dinas Brick Plant physicochemical bases have been developed for the technology and commercial production has been organized for a whole series of melted refractory materials of the system MgO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 ( Table 1).Production of silica glass is carried out in plasma reactors PR-420 by the method of oxidation melting in a unit. Starting materials for the production are enriched silica sand, that is fed into the high-temperature chamber, where under the
