Materials and methodsSpecimens were hand collected and preserved in 70% alcohol. Live images were taken using Nikon D80 with 60mm macro lens. They were later examined in detail and photographed with a Leica DFC295 camera attached to the Leica S8APO stereomicroscope. All images were then processed with the aid of LAS version 4.2 software. A study of spider diversity of Kerala University Campus, conducted for a period of four months revealed a total of 116 species of spiders belonging to 20 families. Among the families, Salticidae was found as the most common family and among the species Hersilia savignyi and Hippasa agelenoides were found as the most common species. Plexipus petersi, Plexipus pykulli, Xysticus minutes and Tibellus elongates were also noted as the commonly found spider species.

New distributional records of Maripanthus gloria Caleb, 2021 and Maripanthus jubatus Maddison, 2020 from southern India are reported. Diagnosis and images of both the species are provided and the updated distributional records are also mapped.
