This study aims to describe the student’s ability to solve mathematical problems with Polya's steps (understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan and looking back,) viewed from personality types according to Keirsey. This research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects were 4 students from class XI of Senior High School, with one subject for each personality type. The research instrument uses personality type classification instruments, problem-solving tests, and interview guidelines. The results of the research showed that from each of the students with the type of Keirsey personality, in solve mathematical problems more tend to be on types of Guardian and Rational personalities, can do every step of Polya’s problem-solving. Next, are the Idealist and Artisan types which are still lacking at the steps certain solving the problem of the problems given. Keywords: Problem Solving, School Mathematics, Polya’s Steps, Keirsey’s Personality, Non-Routine Problems.
Kata kunci: Translasi, Representasi verbal, Representasi visual, Kemampuan matematika, SPLDV]This research aim to analyze translation of visual representation to verbal representation in solving two variable system of linear equation topic. three students of grade IX-A were selected as subject in term of result mathematic test. The problem solving process carried out by students based on Polya four stages. problem solving test like SPLDV was given to subject then interview related to test. The result shows that subject with high mathematic ability pass all translational indicators between representations for each given problem. subject with medium mathematic ability only pass all translational indicators between representations for one given problem. subject with low mathematic ability not pass all translational indicators between representations .Keywoards : Translation,Verbal representation,Visual representation, Mathematic ability, SPLDV
