Tagetes patula L. (marigold) is a valuable source of biologically active compounds, including flavonoids. A quantitative determination method for total flavonoids in T. patula flowers using differential spectrophotometry at analytical wavelength 428 nm and a reference standard of patulitrin (3,5,7,3¢,4¢-pentahydroxy-6-methoxyflavone 7-O-b-D-glucopyranoside) was developed during the present work. The error of a single determination of total flavonoids in T. patula flowers was ± 3.86% with confidence probability 95%. The content of total flavonoids in T. patula flowers varied from 6.12 ± 0.07% to 8.30 ± 0.12%.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
