Induction motor is a type of ac motor widely used in the industry for a wide range of applications. An inverter fed induction motor constitutes an induction motor drive. Direct torque control (DTC) is a method of controlling an induction motor drive. DTC is simple to implement unlike Field oriented control (FOC) and involves the direct control of motor parameters like electromagnetic torque and flux. The advantage over other methods of control is that DTC is less sensitive to motor parameters. Sensorless DTC refers to elimination of speed sensors but instead speed estimation techniques are used to avoid the redundant hardware that adds up when sensors are used. This paper gives a status review on DTC and sensorless estimation techniques that have evolved over the course of these years.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
