We investigate collisions between solitons in a lossless two-channel wavelength-division multiplexed system with strong dispersion management. Numerical results show that the net frequency shift that is due to interchannel collisions is at least 1 order of magnitude smaller than predicted by adiabatic theories. A modified theoretical analysis is presented and shown to be in good agreement with the numerical results.
We describe a single frequency, unidirectional erbium fiber ring laser. Wavelength selection is performed by a ‘‘continuous fiber’’ filter of the fiber to planar waveguide coupler type. Varying the refractive index experienced by the exposed surface of the filter allowed the single longitudinal mode output from the laser to be tuned, discretely, from 1556–1561 nm with a resolution limited linewidth of 52 kHz.
We demonstrate simultaneous demultiplexing, data regeneration and clock recovery at 10 Gbits͞s, using a single semiconductor optical amplifier-based nonlinear-optical loop mirror in a phase-locked loop configuration.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
