45Pskeletalmuscleofthefoetalrabbit,bothmonomethyland trimethyl-lysine are present in the foetal form of the protein, although possibly in somewhat decreased amounts.The methyl-lysines are restricted to the heavychain fraction, for they could not be identified in the low-molecular-weight components of myosin. Thus the analytical data suggest that there is less than one c-N-monomethyl-lysine residue/heavy chain in each molecule of myosin and subfragment I.
