The effects of an antihistamine, cinnarizine, were studied in normal subjects and patients with vertigo by measuring eye movements after labyrinthine stimulation. The studies were controlled, and the effects of drugs were compared with that of placebo by means of the electronystagmograph. The effects on angular and linear accelerations were examined. Cinnarizine appeared to reduce the reaction to labyrinthine stimulation in normal subjects as well as to relieve symptoms in patients with vertigo.
