A study on the intervention of human factors engineering (known as ergonomics) on sustainable living based on biopsychological needs was conducted, taking samples of small housing inhabitants. In total, 90 participants were involved. Those who were living in small housings have a significant challenge of how to live comfortably given very limited space. The measurement of the quality of human life through WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF) and ergonomics-based usability were used to describe the current human well-being satisfaction, to propose the modified physical facilities, and to validate the proposed design and improvement. The findings showed that all implemented improvements have supported the inhabitant’s quality of life.
Salah satu upaya menurunkan tingkat burnout yakni melalui Pelatihan ‘ASIMERU’. Burnout is a prolonged stress arising due to an excessive workload. Teachers at Public Junior High School Y Surabaya has experienced burnout. ‘ASIMERU’ training, which is based on Psychological Capital (Hope, Self-efficacy, Resiliency & Optimism) was designed to reduce burnout rate. This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method with a pretest-posttest design type. This study utilized a purposive sampling technique which then obtained 10 participants. The study used the burnout scale by Maslach, Jackson, Leiter (1996) given before and after training which then analyzed by using paired sample t-test. The results showed that the "ASIMERU" training was effective in reducing the burnout rate of the teachers at Public Junior High School Y Surabaya.
This study aims to test the effectiveness of self-compassion training to increase resilience. The training provided is based on aspects of self-compassion, namely self kindness, common humanity and mindfulness. The method used is a quasi-experimental one group pre-test post-test design. The training was attended by 15 residents of Class II A Women's Prison in Pontianak who have an age range of 18 to 56 years with the last education being elementary school to bachelor degree. Evaluation is done at the level of reaction, learning, and behavior. Quantitative data was obtained by providing a resilience scale as measured by the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) which consists of 10 items with five choices of answer from very inappropriate to very appropriate. Quantitative data were then analyzed using a paired sample t-test (t = 3,800, p = 0.002 (p < 0.05)). The conclusions of this study indicate that self-compassion training is effective in increasing resilience of the inmates at Class II A Women's Prison in Pontianak.
This study proposes an ergonomics-based approach for those who are living in small housings (known as flats) in Indonesia. With regard to human capability and limitation, this research shows how the basic needs of human beings are captured and analyzed, followed by proposed designs of facilities and standard living in small housings. Ninety samples were involved during the study through indepth interview and face-to-face questionnaire. The results show that there were some proposed of modification of critical facilities (such as multifunction ironing work station, bed furniture, and clothesline) and validated through usability testing. Overall, it is hoped that the proposed designs will support biopsychosocial needs and sustainability.
