Long-baseline bistatic radar systems have been investigated and built in the past, but shortrange tactical applications of bistatic radar have not been explored in such detail. This paper briefly introduces the concept of bistatic and multistatic radar, compares the features of longbaseline and short-baseline systems, and describes a demonstration system designed to facilitate investigations into short-range tactical bistatic radar operation at X-band. This system, which is designed to be fully portable, features a phased array receiver with high-bandwidth digital beamforming, which can be used with a wide choice of modulations (pulsed and continuous), including high-PRF operation. 2.INTRODUCTION.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
