The effect of different priming treatments were evaluated during 2015–16 and 2016–17 with two wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties V1: GW 496 and V2: Lok 1. The seeds of both the varieties were primed with different priming treatments, viz. P1, GA3 (50 ppm); P2, IAA (100 ppm); P3, KNO3 (3%); P4, KCl (2%); P5, Tricoderma harzianum @10 g/kg and P6, Tricoderma viride @10 g/kg along with unprimed seeds as a control (P7). The variety Lok 1 (V2) showed positive response to different priming treatments and seeds of Lok 1 primed with KNO3 (3%) recorded significantly higher pooled average field emergence (96.42%), number of effective tillers (7.75), spike length (12.99 cm), seed yield per plant (13.55 g), seed yield per plot (2.45 kg) during both the years followed by GA3 (50 ppm) primed seeds which recorded at par values for almost all the seed yield attributes. The unprimed seeds of wheat variety GW 496 recoded significantly lower values for all the observed characters for both the experimental years.
A field experiment was conducted in the field of Seed Technology Research Unit, MPKV, Rahuri during rabi season 2014-15 for the study of the effect of normal and late sowing, last cutting regimes and nutritional sprays at the time of flowering on the seed yield and quality attributes of Berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum L.). It was observed that the yield attributing characters viz., number of flowers plant -1 (41), number of seeds flower -1 (52), seed yield plot -1 (226 g), seed yield ha -1 (1.34 q) and days to 50% flowering (116) were significantly superior at normal sowing time i.e. 15 th October, and with the last cut 10 days before normal last cut i.e. 18 th Feb. and nutritional sprays of KNO 3 @ 2% and Borax @ 100 ppm (separate spray) at the reproductive stage over the other treatment combinations. Similarly, seed quality parameters viz., germination (94.00%) was significantly superior in the same treatment combination. For higher seed yield and quality seed production in Maharashtra sowing at normal sowing time i.e. 15 th October last cut 10 days before normal last cut i.e. 18 th Feb. and nutritional sprays of KNO 3 @ 2% and Borax @ 100 ppm (separate spray) at the reproductive stage.
