A B S T R A C T Objective:The present study analyses young people's entrepreneurial intentions in Finland and Poland. Previous surveys have shown that the desire to become an entrepreneur is stronger in between Polish people than in between Finnish people. Research Design & Methods: By exploring the social psychological factors that explain young people's entrepreneurial intentions, the study particularly sought to determine whether the differences in entrepreneurial intention can be explained by social welfare attitudes. Survey respondents were 725 Finnish and 887 Polish students. Findings: Finnish and Polish young people approach entrepreneurship in quite different ways. Finnish young people appreciate entrepreneurs at a general level, but do not consider becoming entrepreneurs themselves, while the Poles think about entrepreneurship in the opposite manner. Furthermore, the results show that Finnish people's trust in society is much stronger than that of their Polish counterparts. Implications & Recommendations: Influencing young people's confidence in their abilities and skills is more important than trying to influence general attitudes about entrepreneurship. Thus, entrepreneurship education has a key role in supporting young people's entrepreneurship. National differences in intentions and in appreciation of entrepreneurship can be explained by societal and historical factors. Contribution & Value Added: Entrepreneurial intention is typically explained by psychological, economic, and cultural factors, and by social capital. Study results show that social political factors are also important in explaining entrepreneurial intentions. Article type: research paper
Abstract:Entrepreneurship is nowadays one of the most important elements of the economy in any country. Creates expectations to open new companies, but in or der to start a new enterprise, first entrepreneurial intention must be present. There are many factors that could influence this process. One of them is gender of the future entrepreneurs. The aim of this paper is to find an answer to the question as to whether the gender of Polish high school students has an influence on their entrepre neurial intentions. Are there any differences between the entrepreneurial intentions of men and women? To verify these statements the questionnaire used in the re search was based on a sample of 887 Polish high school students. The results suggest that there is no significant relationship between gender and entrepreneurial inten tion amongst Polish high school students. The same factors influence entrepreneurial intention for boys and girls in a Polish high school. Moreover it is surprising that level of variables perceived behavioural control is higher for girls than boys. It shows a change in women's current thinking about their role in Polish entrepreneurship.
Sub-project 5 of BIOEXPLOIT aims to design durable disease resistance through marker-assisted breeding by converting existing markers for high-throughput application, developing and validating high-throughput marker technologies and pyramiding major R genes and/or quantitative trait loci into elite material. Activities include (1) the fine mapping of the quantitative trait locus PiXspg which accounts for a large proportion of the variation in late blight resistance, (2) converting SNP-based markers and an AFLP marker to easy-to-use-markers, (3) testing of progenies with combined sources of late blight resistance for presence of R genes and agronomic features, (4) backcrossing new sources of resistance to S. tuberosum and molecular screening of breeding materials with marker GP94 linked with gene Rpi-phu1
The aim of the article is to analyze the potential educational consequences of commercial advertising campaigns. The author creates the hermeneutics of the selected visual element of the ”Join the Procession” campaign of the Converse brand present in public space. This is an analysis of the persuasion strength of this campaign in relation to knowledge of youth psychology and sociology. The author proves that there is a third education space important for shaping the attitudes of young people – beyond home and school control, which has all the means and conditions to deny or eliminate the fi rst two actions. The author postulates the restoration and enhancement of the educational function of the school.
