RESUMENEl objetivo del trabajo es el estudio de la resistencia a compresión y la absorción de agua de los morteros de cal/FCC donde se sustituye un 30% en peso de este conglomerante por un geopolímero. En dicho geopolímero se ha utilizado como precursor FCC y, como activador, una mezcla de silicato e hidróxido sódicos o bien distintas mezclas de hidróxido de sodio con fuentes de sílice natural y residuales. Los resultados demuestran que la incorporación del geopolímero mejora la resistencia a la compresión y disminuye la absorción de agua por capilaridad. Estos resultados manifiestan la viabilidad de su uso como materiales de construcción alternativos a los morteros tradicionales en aplicaciones donde no se requieran elevadas resistencias mecánicas. ABSTRACTThe aim of this work is studying the compressive strength and the water absorption of lime/FCC mortar where a 30% of weight of this is replaced by a geopolymer. This geopolymer had FCC as a precursor and, as activating reagent, a mix of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide or different mixes of sodium hydroxide with natural and residual silica sources. Results prove that the compressive strength increases, and the water capillary absorption decreases by adding the geopolymer. These outcomes show the feasibility of their use as alternative construction materials to traditional mortars in applications where high mechanical strength is not required.
