A total of fourty-five cases of traumatic- reticulo- peritonitis in cows (16 cows ill for 24-48 hrs and 29 cows ill for 72-120 hrs). in Baghdad were diagnosed clinically, laboratory and autopical findings. The most valuable diagnostic signs were increased rectal temperature (39.9 C), respiratory rates (36/min.) and heart beats (95/min.), decreased in milk production (100.00 %), ruminal atony (95.56%), abdominal pain (93.33%), disturbed appetite (91.11%), decrease manure production (84.44%) and recurrent tympany (84. 44%). The total and differential leucocyte counts provided good diagnostic and prognostic data. The determination of total plasma protein and fibrinogen were used as aids to the diagnosis of traumatic reticulo-peritonitis in this study.
The study was conducted on 118 buffaloes suffering from openedpyometra 20-30 days post partum in AL-thahab AL-abiadh village west ofBaghdad Province, their ages ranged from 3-6 years.They were divided randomly in to 4 groups . Group one included (27 buffalo)treated with 15 mg of PGF2α ( Prosolven )R IM, The 2nd group (32 buffalo)treated with 15 mg of PGF2α and 15 mg estradiol benzoate IM . The 3rd group(29 buffalo) treated with 15 mg of PGF2α and 50 . 100 ml of lugol’s iodine 0.5% intra-uterine.The 4th group (30 buffalo) treated with 15 mg of PGF2α and 4 gm ofOxyteracycline 20% (20 ml of Oxy. plus 50-100 ml disilled water) intra-uterine.Results showed that the 1st and 2nd response in 4 treated groups were66.2%, 84.3%, 79.3% and 86.6% respectively .The response was high in the 2ndand 4th group (P < 0.01). These responses represent also the conception rate forthese 4 treated groups. The means ± SE of days open for above groups were98.4± 6.4 ,84.2 ± 4.4 ,97.3 ± 3.8 and 82.7 ± 4.6 respectively ,the second andfourth group were significant (P < 0.01).The number of newly born calves was 94 calves (46 male,48 female) Thealive were 87(92.6%) and dead 7 (7.4%), so we conclude that the PGF2α has aneffective role in the treatment of pyometra in buffalo and it’s effect increasingwhen it combined with oxytetracycline 20% and estradiol benzoate together .
Electrophoretic Pattern of Serum proteins were studied in thirty normal Arabian race horses. The resolution of the serum protein fractions in 24 (80%) of horses, group I revealed five fractions, albumin and the globulins (a1, a2, B and y). The total serum protein was ranged from ( 6.2-8.4 gm/dL) with mean (7.57 ±0.17) in the this group of horses. Where-as four fractions, albumin and the globulins (a2, B and y) were observed in 6(20%) of horses, group 2. The total serum protein was ranged from (6.0 - 7.4 gm/dL) with mean (6.76 ± 0.27) in that group of horses. The Albumin/Globulin ratio in both Groups was (0.66 ±0.13); (0.89 ± 0.07), respectively.
Background: Disability is any restriction or lack of ability to perform an activity (WHO, 2022). The numbers of visually impaired persons globally was 285 million during 2020 and grows by up to 2 million yearly (Jabnoun et al., 2016). They receive the least benefits from health care services (Pratt et al, 2018). Realizing the principles of human rights regarding health care provision (Duffly, 2022), communication is an important human feature during the medical interview (Ben-noun, 2014) and it is very important to deliver a useful health service in any health system (Kaplonyi, 2017). It has been noted that unsighted persons suffer from communication problems with health care providers that affect their health care. Aim: To identify needs of unsighted persons during the medical interview. Materials and Methods: This study was done in Um Al-Rabean Development Foundation for Blinds and Purblinds in Mosul, Iraq, using a case series study design from January1 to February 1, 2022. Sixty-seven blind (unsighted) persons. Data were collected by using an electronic data collection Google form consisting of two axes, the 1st one included the demographic information of the study sample, and the 2nd one included the doctor- communication skills followed during the medical interview with the unsighted patients. Results: This study revealed that the participants’ response rate was equal among both sexes. Most of them were aged 18 years and above and about one third were married. The percentage of celibacy was high, about 58.2%. Only (44.8%) of respondents had access to education, and the percentage of government employees was very low at 26.9%. The doctors’ communication skills followed during the medical interview with the participants were weak; more than half of doctors did not introduce their names, lower their voice, or give enough time for the patient to present their problem; adding to that, 74.6% did not shake hands with patients (before the COVID-19 pandemic). 20% of doctors did not assist during seating, only one third asked permission before giving help, and only 25.4% of doctors treat unsighted patients as normal persons. Roughly one fifth of doctors called the participants by their names more than once. Conclusion: Training of doctors in communication skills techniques concerning this group is seriously needed. We recommend broader research work on a larger sample to study this topic from the point of view of doctors and patients.
Electrophoretic patterns of serum protein in 12 Arabian race horses acutely infected with Babesia equi revealed a significant decrease in albumin (P<0.01) and beta globulins (P<0.05) where, alpha globulins fractions significantly (P<0.01) increased. No significant (P>0.05) changes were recorded in gamma globulins fractions and total serum protein.
