The main parameters of free radical oxidation and antioxidant defense in the blood plasma, erythrocytes, and homogenates of skeletal muscles, heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys were studied in adult outbred albino male rats with different degree of adaptation to moderate exposure to swimming. The rats were trained to swim regularly over 1 month. Changes in oxidative balance varied in organs and tissues and depended on the level of training. Malonic dialdehyde content in the erythrocytes after swimming increased by 13.8% in non-trained animals, but decreased by 19.2% in trained rats. Parameters of blood plasma reflect the general oxidative balance of organs and tissues.
Subject. Removable dentures have a negative impact on supporting tissues, biochemical parameters and composition of the microflora of the oral cavity, secretory activity of the salivary glands and other processes of the maxillofacial region and the body as a whole. One of the methods that can be used in the treatment and prevention of prosthetic stomatitis is balneotherapy. In the article, using the clinical, biochemical, microbiological and histological methods, the effectiveness of the use of mineral water "Fateevskaya" in patients using removable orthopedic structures was studied. Objectives of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of procedures for small balneotherapy with the use of mineral water "Fateevskaya" in patients with removable dentures. Methods. We examined 158 elderly and senile age patients with removable dentures. Correction of removable dentures was carried out to all patients at the initial stage. All examined patients are divided into two groups. The group received the treatment with the low balneotherapy with “Fateevskaya” mineral water (78 patients, and the clinical control group (80 patients). The clinical condition of oral cavity was assessed before and after the course of low balneotherapy. Were researched: changes of mucous membrane of prosthetic bed, salivation rates, disturbance of salivary secretion, oral microbiocenosis. Results.Of the research showed that in both groups were increase of pH value, appears lower values of total protein and glucose, decrease in activity of some enzymes. This explanation is due to a decrease in the stress response to using the removable dentures, normalization of salivary glands functioning, decrease in the intensity of the phlogiston process. The results of a histological research also confirm this. The results of microbiological crops before and after the low balneotherapy indicate the oral biocenosis normalization. The positive changes in the researched parameters had significantly larger statistically valid values in the group received the treatment with the low balneotherapy with “Fateevskaya” mineral water. The results of the complex research allow us to recommend the “Fateevskaya” mineral water to low balneotherapy in dental practice.
In this paper we consider buffering properties of saliva, which are regulated by a colloidal system. It includes Ca2+ and НPO42- ions, which affect on qualitative characteristics of saliva. The constancy of the pH determines neutralizing and mineralizing capabilities of saliva. The aim of this work was to define influence of toothpaste composition on the pH, salivary buffer systems, and the acid-base balance in the oral cavity. The acid-base disruption results in disbalance in demineralization-remineralization processes. Students of the Dentistry Department of Kirov State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia took part in this research. They were divided into three groups. Each group had been using different products for 28 days. We selected 3 toothpastes of the same manufacturer. These toothpastes contain same ingredients, which by their chemical properties are not able to affect on the pH of the oral fluid and salivary buffer systems accordingly. However, there were distinctive components such as dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, hydroxyapatite, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, calcium lactate, which increase НРО42- and Ca2+. This fact has a positive effect on maintaining fixity of the phosphate buffer system in the oral cavity. It therefore helps to normalize the pH to a neutral level. The acid-base equilibrium is supported by buffering properties of saliva. It knows that saliva is regulated by the colloidal system including Ca2+ and НPO42- ions. These ions are part of the phosphate buffer system, which affect on qualitative characteristics of saliva. Based on the above, there is dependence between the row of toothpaste ingredients and protein level, hydrogen phosphate ions, calcium ions, and pH values.
BACKGROUND: The study of antioxidant protection state is important both for diagnosing the influence of forced hypodynamia on the main pathological process and development of the approaches to minimize these adverse manifestations. AIM: To study the state of antioxidant protection system in blood plasma and erythrocytes in the patients with tibia and femur fractures depending on the duration of immobilization. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study involves biochemical examination of 20 patients with shin and hip fractures aged from 18 to 50 years, without a concomitant pathology, who underwent skeletal traction associated with prolonged restriction of motor activity. Blood sampling was performed on the 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and 35th days after injury. The main parameters of the antioxidant defense system in the blood plasma and erythrocytes have been studied. RESULTS: A stagewise shift of the studied parameters depending on the time of immobilization has been established. The maximum decrease in the antioxidant defense action has been noted on the 21th day, while relative stabilization of the indicators has been noted on the 35th day of the observation. CONCLUSIONS: The findings can be recommended to estimate the effect of forced limitation of motor activity on the posttraumatic process. The necessity of including vitamins with antioxidant action in the complex therapy of the patients of the corresponding profile has been proved.
Subject: In view of decreased protective and adaptive functions of the body in elderly patient using of removable dentures are accompany by a number of negative moments. Balneotherapy is the effective method of physiotherapy for prevention and treatment of many dental diseases, including in gerontostomatology. The article devoted to the study of oral cavity microbial flora changing after low balneotherapy with “Fateevskaya” mineral water in elderly patients with removable dentures. The importance of preventive control in after-adaptation period in orthopedic rehabilitation by removable dentures. Object: To trach quality of life changes in patients with removable dentures which use low balneotherapy with the “Fateevskaya” mineral water. Methodology. 158 elderly and senile age patients witch use removable dentures more than 3 years was examined. All examined patients was divide into two groups. The group received the treatment with the “Fateevskaya” mineral water (78 patients), and the clinical control group (80 patients). The quality of life level was conducted with The Oral Health Impact Profile-14 questionnaire (OHIP-14). Subjective qualities were analyzed and compared with the results of clinical and laboratory indicators and biochemical parameters of saliva. Results. Positive influence of low balneotherapy in short-term and long-term results of treatment was established. This are confirmed by higher growth rate of clinical and laboratory indicators and biochemical parameters Effect was confirm by acquired digital data. Objectivity of the evaluation of dental status verified by means of OHIP-14 questionnaire. Findings. The results of the complex research allow us to recommend the “Fateevskaya” mineral water for wide application in dental practice with the quality of life improving in patients with removable dentures.
