A cross-sectional retrospective study was done in the 'Headache clinic' of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) comprising a sample of eighty patients with migraine. There were 64(80%), female and 16 male (20%). Among them 19(23.75%) had psychiatric disorder as co-morbidity. In accordance with DSM-IV, the commonest psychiatric illness was major depressive disorder (36.84%). The others were panic disorder (21.05%), obsessive compulsive disorders (15.78%) and dysthymic disorder (15.78%). Considering these findings and observation, it so appears that a substantial psychiatric morbidity is prevalent among the sufferers of migraine and it warrants early recognition and proper assessment with the initiation of an integrated treatment modality.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is the most common functional gastrointestinal disorder commonly associated with psychosomatic illness Eighty six patients of IBS who met the clinical Rome-II criteria were enrolled in this prospective study. Necessary laboratory investigations were done to exclude organic diseases. All patients were subjected to psychiatric assessment by clinical psychiatrist using DSM-IV criteria. 96.5% of the studied patients actually had different psychiatric illness. Among them generalized anxiety disorder (24.4%), depressive illness (27.8%), somatoform disorder (12.7%) and hypochondriasis (10.4%) were the predominant abnormalities. New onset of IBS patients exhibited higher prevalence of generalized anxiety disorder (42.8%) in comparison to longer duration of illness. Depressive illness (44.4%) was substantially higher in constipation-predominant IBS than other forms. TAJ

All these factors led to the evolution of the e-learning environment in medical education. An initiative is underway in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Omdurman Islamic University (OIU), Sudan which aims to introduce a modern web-based learning environment serves undergraduate medical students, supports the newly adopted philosophy of Problem-based Learning, and provides these new generations of doctors (Net generations) with the knowledge and skills they need to be a successful practitioners. This digest endeavors to give a bird's-eye view of e-learning, its benefits and limitations and explores, with examples, some of the current uses of e-learning technologies in the education of medical students.
