During the current pandemic of COVID-19, numerous manifestations and complications have developed. As seen after the Second wave patients with COVID-19 are at high risk of fungal infections, such as mucormycosis, that may result directly from COVID-19 infection and/or as a side effect of the drugs used in the COVID-19 treatment protocol. Rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis is a fungal infection that can be fatal especially in immunocompromised patients.
In this report, we described a series of 3 cases with frontal sinus osteomyelitis in post-COVID-19 diabetic patients diagnosed with mucormycosis.
Introduction:
Rhabdomyosarcomas are soft tissue cancers derived mainly of undifferentiated mesoderm
Types of Rhabdomyosarcomas:
1. Embryonal
2. Alveolar
3. Pleomorphic
Embryonal rhabdomyosarcomas are the most common subtype(60%). Most common in children (0-4 years old) 1,2 with incidence of 4 in 1 million. Male preponderance is seen. Middle ear constitutes 10% of the head and neck rhabdomyosarcomas 3
Most commonly involved sites in head and neck region are nasal and oral cavities, second most common being the orbit and middle ear. 4 Less likely seen in terminally differentiated muscle cells.
Background
Fractures of Diaphysis of tibia are among the most common diaphyseal fractures, with a bimodal age distribution. These are also notorious for going into delyed or non union, the preferred mode of fixation for these is the Intramedulllary nailing. We have compared the two approaches of the same, the supraptellar as well as infrapatellar approach.
Methods
Patients were divided into 2 groups, randomly, one group undergoing tibial diaphyseal intramedullary nailing via the conventional infrapatellar approach and the other undergoing via the suprapatellar approach. Post operative knee function was assessed using TegnerLysholm Scale.
Results
Mean TegnerLysholm knee score was 84.80 ±9.829 and 87.07±11.10 in infrapatellar and suprapatellar group respectively. When mean Tegner Lysholm knee score was compared in suprapatellar group and infrapatellar group using t test, it was found to be statistically insignificant.
Conclusions
we conclude that there was no difference in tibial fracture healing, alignment, knee pain and functional disability.
