The focus of this study is to examine the students’ degree of satisfaction towards the academic counseling or guidance services during the preparatory year at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University for the academic year 2020-2021 and report the difference, if any, in the level of this satisfaction based on the difference of the students’ gender. This study used a self-administered survey as an instrument for data collection. The final sample consists of 440 students in Medical and Engineering Colleges. We find that there is a moderate level of satisfaction towards the services of academic guidance offered to the students. In addition, we find that there is a significant difference in the level of satisfaction towards the services of academic guidance by the gender at 5% level. The findings of this study are important for policymakers at the university and college levels. This study suggests that the colleges should increase their academic guidance services offered to students during their studying the preparatory year. Moreover, unifying the level of academic guidance services provided to both male and female sections in a manner to achieve the quality of this service provided to male and female students.
The main objective of this article is to determine the validity of the proposed system for measuring strategic performance (MSP Unis) in Arab universities at the level of its three Perspectives; performance measurement, measurement processes, and measurement potentials. However, most of the Arab universities face difficulties in the measurement of their strategic performance due to cost and the lack of human resources specialists in that field. The study was conducted through a questionnaire consisting of 38 items distributed on a sample of 116 experts working in the field of strategic planning in universities registered in the Association of Arab Universities. So, by the use of factor analysis, the results disclosed a very high degree of correlation between the paragraphs and the three dimensions that make up the system. The results of the statistical analysis demonstrated the validity of the proposed strategic performance measurement system for use in measuring the strategic performance of Arab universities from the viewpoint of respondents with a very high arithmetic average amounted 4.30, and a very high approval rate for the content of the paragraphs reaching to 86%. Accordingly, the current study is consistent with the previous studies. The research recommendations obviously have been concluded as (a) An implementation of the suggested system (MSP Unis) in Arab universities and supporting its implementation’s potentials. (b) A Benefiting from the results of the factor analysis in implementation plans on the level of its three Perspectives. (c) Developing training programs to consolidate the proposed MSP Unis. (d) Enabling strategic planning departments to implement the proposed MSP Unis.
The purpose of this study is to develop a model for the implementation of total quality management in higher educational institutions, Arab universities. This model exceeds the limitations in the implemented current models in various business organizations through implementing the systems approach and process entry in the design that includes inputs, processes, outputs, and goals. This study is a survey-based methodology in which the survey is designed based on the 7 famous models of implementing the total quality with an adaption within the framework of the total quality management concept. The final sample consists of 51 academic leaders at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University who hold various experiences in working with different Arab universities. The results of this study indicate that the proposed model obtained high relative importance that reached at the axis level a high degree ranged between 76.39%-80.78%, and at the overall level reached a percentage of 80.39%. This confirms the importance of the model in expressing the intellectual content of management of total quality as an integrated system of universities as open organizations to their external context. This study recommends that high leaders should believe in the importance of total quality management and encourage its application through the proposed model with its essential criteria and its sub-dimensions and spreading the culture of total quality management and customer service among workers.
