Cyathea atrovirens, popularly known as pau cardoso, is used both for food being consumed as palm heart, and for the manufacture of syrup used in respiratory disorders.Due to its importance in its use, this work aimed to analyze the phytochemistry of the palm heart and to evaluate its antimicrobial and antioxidant activities.In the results, the species presented of flavonoids, tannins, triterpenes and coumarinsclasses.Standing out tannins that are biosynthesized in high concentration as well as phenolics which are related to the relevant antioxidant activity and good antimicrobial activity against some microorganisms.
