COVID-19 pandemic has created a new economic crisis worldwide. Islamic Bank which was reportedly resilient against the financial crisis is expected to be stable in this period. Apart from that, Islamic Bank has channeled financing fund to various business sectors with different portions leading to a question whether they have different impact on Bank. This paper aims to discover the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and financing to business sectors on Islamic Bank profitability. An ARDL approach is employed for analysis. The result of the study shows that COVID-19 pandemic has a negative relationship with Islamic Bank profitability in the long-run. Furthermore, financing to transportation, warehousing and communication sectors is associated with higher profitability in the short-run. On the other hand, financing to wholesale and retail trade sectors hurt Islamic Bank profitability. Based on this result, it is suggested that Government impose some measures in stabilizing Islamic Bank’s performance during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Islamic Banks are expected to make adjustment on financing to business sectors ratio accordingly in order to maintain the profitability of Islamic Bank.
This study aims to examine the concept of Islamic education and historical establishment of Tsangaya system of education in Nigeria and Yobe State in particular until present. Tsangaya refers to the informal school or place where teaching and learning of the glorious Qur’an and other Islamic sciences is taken place. The system otherwise called traditional Qur’anic school system, it has been in existence centuries prior to the British colonization as a source of moral guidance and educational training for the Muslim particularly in northern part of Nigeria. It has also contributed extremely to promoting Qur’anic education, inculcating self-discipline, spiritual growth of Muslim individuals and the communities respectively. The study employed a qualitative research approach that entails the techniques of documentation and interviews in collecting data while inductive approach to content analysis was utilized for data analysis. The outcome of this study reveals that Tsangaya system of education in northern Nigeria have developed rapidly since its establishment irrespective of some prevailing problems and they make a positive contribution on the society in terms of spiritual, moral and social wellbeing
The impacts of the secular education system on the Muslims are very alarming. It has been creating doubts, errors, fantasies, disconnections and confusions in the mind of the Muslims and most importantly the youth. This pathetic scenario metamorphoses and it has been causing the youths too greatly in losing their self-identity as Muslims. The inability to learn and experience the uniqueness of the educational pedagogy of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has failed many people woefully to see the beauty of Islam in its holistic approach with regards to its educational pedagogy. Different pedagogical theories that have been formulated by the secular educationists carried out the notion of different belief systems from the west and its Eurocentric ideology. However, having studied the life and teachings of a man who has been considered as the best exemplary and the modest for the entire humanity by the Muslim and non-Muslims alike. It has been clearly noted that there are varieties of ways and teaching methods applied by the Prophet (PBUH) to educate the old and the young in different ways, nature, time, techniques or different patterns. This study is aimed to revisiting or unraveling different methods used by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to nurture and educate his companions, family, friends and foes alike. This study is carried out through exploratory research to revisiting different teaching methods and techniques of the Prophet (PBUH) from different sources such as Hadith, Sunnah and the Seerah of the Prophet (PBUH). The researchers tried to gain further insights in different aspects with includes strategies, applications, stages and processes, etc. The researcher initially started with general overview about of the teaching methods and the techniques exercised by Prophet (PBUH), in his holistic methods of teaching and learning. This has been used as a tool to identify some critical related issues that could pave ways to different area of focuses for the furtherance study. Amongst the instruments used in this study includes documents analysis, journals, books, university record and report, interviewing Islamic educators and observation. A critical analysis is also used to shed more light on those different teaching methods used by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and its relevance to different techniques in the pedagogical education.
<p><em>Zakat is an Islamic financial instrument that plays a variety of roles in human life, including providing assistance to vulnerable members of society, with particular reference to people with disabilities. This paper examines the institution of Zakat as a tool for alleviating poverty in Nigeria in general and Gombe state in particular, as well as the key roles of Zakat institutions and their problematic operation in the study area. The qualitative method for the study was developed through a literature review and interviews with relevant individuals. The study's findings revealed that the poverty rate of individuals with disabilities is higher than that of any other sub-group of individuals without a disability; thus, societal attitudes toward people with disabilities must be reconsidered immediately. The use of zakat income is a relevant tool for strengthening the skills of vulnerable people, part of which is disabled people.</em> <em>The implications of this study serve as a basis for making recommendations for expanding the scope of distribution of Zakat properties by including consumable properties and cash, as well as textile materials and entrepreneurial packages for the most talented disabled individuals to develop and finance the businesses they have in order to develop poverty alleviation programs in the state.</em></p>
