An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is characterized by an abnormal connection between an artery and vein without an interposing capillary bed, resulting in a nidus of tangled, dilated, and dysplastic vessels. 1 AVMs of the extremities account for 28.5% of all AVMs and may present as a nontender soft-tissue mass that may have a palpable pulsation. 2,3 Other findings may include ulceration, pain, ischemia, and in severe cases, cardiac failure. 3 The primary treatment modalities include endovascular embolization, surgical resection, or a combination of the two. 2 We present a rare case of an AVM located within the sciatic nerve, including the multidisciplinary approach to its resection, using electrodiagnostic studies and imaging.
