This is a quantitative study of the current an d historical situation of female admission and desertion in t h e Information Systems Engineering course, based on a theoretical analysis about the general panorama and its context on gender inequalities in STEM university courses ( Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). It highlights the low rate of gender parity from the very beginning and the fact that it decreases in the last years of the course, as a result of a greater desertion of women than men It is the first step of a research work in progress, which also provides a qualitative approach to the causes of this phenomenon and whose horizon is the design of university policies aimed at achieving greater gender parity in the course.
