Além disso, a demanda industrial apresenta a maior vazão máxima (1,77 m³/s) e a maior média (0,446 m³/s) em comparação as demais. ABSTRACTConsumption uses are those that draw water for destinations such as irrigation, use in industry and human supply. The objective of this study was to verify these demands, and to analyze if there are differences in these water withdrawals in the low, medium and high grade of the water planning unit of the Itapecuru river, qualitative and quantitative data were used. Information on consumptive claims was acquired in the National Water Resources System, provided on a space basis, and these materials were organized and processed in ArcGIS. Itapecuru is a genuinely Maranhaean river that supplies almost half the population of the state. It was noticed that the animal and rural demands are well distributed by the UPH, in contrast the industrial and urban sectors are more localized in the medium and low course, and the irrigation is more present in the middle and low river course. The withdrawal for irrigation (0 to 0.0559 m³/s) is superior to the withdrawal for animals (0 to 0.0114 m³/s), and the largest sum of flows of all categories is the urban supply (1, 79 m³/s), being superior even for industrial use (1,78 m³/s).In addition, industrial demand has the highest maximum flow (1.77 m³/s) and the highest average (0.446 m³/s) in comparison to the others. Currently, the man has been occupying the UPH of the Itapecuru river, without previous knowledge of its vulnerabilities and potentialities, d...
