This study aims to determine the factors that cause a student in Arabic Education of UIN Sunan Kalijaga prefer to write the their thesis are in the Indonesian language, the reason is not mandatory thesis in Arabic in the Department of Arabic Language Education of UIN Sunan Kalijaga and formulate a package of measures to improve the quality of graduates by improving the quality essay. This research is descriptive qualitative, is a research field where research in the Department of Arabic Language Education and Teaching Faculty Tarbiyah UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Methods of data collection in the form of questionnaires and interview guidelines. The source data comes from students who are or have written thesis and the leadership of the Department of Arabic Language Education UIN Sunan Kalijaga as stakeholders. The results showed there are eight factors that cause students of the Department of Arabic Language Education UIN Sunan Kalijaga prefer to write the thesis they are in the Indonesian language, there are four reasons to consider not mandatory thesis in Arabic in the Department of Arabic Language Education UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the third package of measures thesis Arabic for improve the quality of graduates, accompanied by step realization of each activity.
This research is motivated by the lack of reading and translating ability and the lack of utilizing attractive learning methods. Muthola'ah learning requires careful reading skills and Tarjamah learning methods to be able to understand the meaning contained in muthola'ah text. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the muthola’ah learning process in the takhasus class in order to be a new reference material for muthola’ah subject teachers at MA Ibnul Qoyyim Putri. This research is a qualitative field research, with data collection methods using observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The number of students who took the tarjamah test was 18 students. The results showed that the muthola’ah subjects in the takhasus class for the students were, contributing more that with muthola’ah learning could increase students' understanding of Arabic learning, adding vocabulary as provisions to enter the next higher class. The skills achieved with muthola’ah learning include speaking, listening and writing skills. In terms of tarjamah ability, this muthola'ah subject indeed concluded that although teachers often translate from Arabic to Arabic, students can translate into Indonesian with tarjamah lafzhiyah and tahdluriyah types from three written tarjamah tests with the weight of tarjamah question sheets that are different and increase from meeting to meeting. The test results reached an average grade of 95.2. While the tarjamah fauriyah takhasus students test results reached an average grade of 82.8. Keywords: Muthola’ah, Tarjamah, MA Ibnul Qoyyim Putri.
This article aims to explain the contribution of the gandul pesantren’s meaning symbols and reveal the problems in translating Arabic sentences. The method of data collection is done through observation and documentation from several sources related to the meaning of the Islamic boarding school and translation with the main data source in the form of a book entitled "Fathul Qarib Paling Lengkap" by M. Hamim HR. and Huda Nailul which is then analyzed and the results are described qualitatively. The results of the study show that: (1) There are 4 contributions of the symbol of the Islamic boarding school meaning in translating Arabic texts, namely: the translation process becomes more effective and efficient, helps to know the position of a word in a sentence, helps to read Arabic texts and helps understand the message referred to from an Arabic sentence. (2) The meaning of the Islamic boarding school which has several terms symbolized by certain symbols used to explain the position of words in Arabic sentences has problems in translating them into Indonesian because not all terms can be directly translated so that some of them are not included (omitted) in translation.
