The main purpose of the current study was to explore higher education dyslexic learners' (HEDLs) awareness, experiences, emotional consequences, and coping strategies for dyslexia. It was a qualitative study with a case study method. Eight dyslexic students (Male=4, Female=4) were selected through the snowball sampling (purposive sampling) technique. The participants were from higher education institutions in Punjab. A semi-structured interview guide was developed through literature and expert opinion for the collection of data. The participants were interviewed face-to-face. All the interviews were transcribed. For the data analysis, a multiple-case analysis model explaining similar and alternating themes was used. According to the findings, the participants were aware of dyslexia. They faced academic challenges, as well as family relationship problems. They had a negative effect of emotional consequences which affected their academic and personal lives. All the participants used positive and negative coping strategies to deal with their learning disabilities. Teachers should be trained and educated about teaching dyslexia students like normal students.
The single national curriculum is the latest decision of the Government of Pakistan in the education sector. One of the aims of introducing a single national curriculum is to inculcate the values of national solidarity and social cohesion. This study aims to identify the weightage given to the national heroes in the primary curriculum (the books in English and Urdu from grades 1 to 5) to instill the importance and values of nationalism and national integration. The content analysis method is used to identify the inclusion of national heroes in the old versus new curriculum. The detailed analysis of the content reveals no significant difference between the old and the new curriculum. The almost same content is used without giving much importance to the nation’s heroes. Also, there is the repetition of the same heroes. Moreover, the representation of local heroes and women role models from different fields of life are also scarce. This phenomenological case study research explored the bullying experiences of transgender students in educational institutes.For this purpose, two participants were selected through snowball sampling who had a minimum of 16 years of education from different educational institutes in Pakistan. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and a within-case analysis was done. Both transgender students identified their gender as contrary to the gender assigned at birth, which affected them adversely, and they had to go through different experiences and issues as compared to cisgender students.Due to gender identity, transgender students faced different types of bullying (verbal, non-verbal, physical; and sexual) in different places(classes or corridors, playgrounds, washrooms, hostels; and social media or cyberspace), which led to serious consequences (depression,hiding gender identity, missing school or classes; and others). Implementation of training to sensitize students and teachers about transgender students to promote exclusivity, equity, diversity, and in discrimination is recommended.
