Abstract:The research aims to identify obstacles and possible challenges in deploying project based learning as learning method for translation course in vocational education. Given that vocational education should shorten the gap between well-equipped skill of graduate with labor market demand, each courses offered are obliged to ensure that skill delivered in the course are practically in line with labor demand and are ready to use, including translation courses. The research adopted qualitative approach and putting case study method completed by interview and survey as method of data collection. The interview was intended to dig the faculty's experience in facilitating translation courses in class within last one year period, particularly on its challenges and obstacles. Meantime, the survey was designed to absorb the learner's perception and opinion towards the advantages of project based learning implementation. The respondent involved in the research are students of English program Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada who already taken translation 1 and 2 courses. Next, The data are descriptively presented along with related supporting figures and tables. The research reveals that in the context of vocational education, translation teaching using project based learning offers a lot of advanteges to the students particularly in equipping them with proper undersntading on conceptual knowledge and its practical implementation in work place. However, its implementation hit some obstacles which could be derived as follow 1. Lack or time preparation and length of time to conduct the team project, 2. Lack of lecturer's experience in delivering PBL in class Key words: translation teaching, project-based learning, vocational education Intisari:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan dan tantangan project-based learning untuk mata kuliah terjemahan dalam pendidikan vokasi.
The research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using blended-learning instruction in improving students’ communication skills at Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada. They were required to take the Test of English for Vocational Students (TEVOCS) and it indicated that there was a gap between listening and speaking ability as presented in the test scores. To support the improvement of both skills, blended-learning instruction was designed and carried out in the forms of online listening activities via Online Listening for Individual Practice (OLIVE) website and offline meeting for speaking activities. The research used experimental research, which referred to the results of pre-test and post-test scores of the group. The participants of the research were 275 students from three departments of Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada; Language, Arts, and Cultural Management department; Engineering department; as well as Economic and Business department academic year 2019/2020. The pre-test and post-test scores show improvement in students’ performance in both skills. The result of the t-test also shows that there is significant improvement after the application of blended-learning instruction.
This research aimed to form a collaborative research and research group in the Department of Languages, Arts and Culture Management, Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada (DBSMB). Vocational education could not be separated from research activities, including research of market, behavior, and products before producing applied products that could be utilized by the market. Collaborative efforts, infrastructure support, and human resource readiness were essential elements in improving the quality of learning and research. The research group was formed in the Culture and Tourism laboratory, which was based on a functional perspective of organizational functions. The exploratory method was carried out by observation, interview, and literature study. Interviews were conducted with informants consisting of the head of Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC), head of study programs, secretary of study programs, and lecturers at DBSMB. The results showed that each lecturer at DBSMB had different research interests. Lecturers’ research interests had several intersections that could be made into collaborative research groups. The research group's design was based on research interests, the direction of study program development, and the objectives of culture and tourism laboratories as well as departments, faculties, and universities. The central theme of culture and tourism could accommodate research collaborations from lecturers in the study programs of Record Management, English, Tourism, Korean Language, and Japanese Language. The challenges in the formation of the research group came from internal factors (communication, funding, and infrastructure) and external factor (collaboration with industry, policy differences, administrative procedures, and interests in research). This research was expected to contribute to the formation of a research group in other vocational education institutions and affect the improvement of vocational graduates’ quality and scientific development.
The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the effect of own-source revenue and transfer revenue on capital expenditure in South Tangerang City. The data used is time series data regarding local own-source revenue and transfer revenue on capital expenditure in South Tangerang City 2012-2021. Data analysis methods include Multiple Regression Analysis, t test, and coefficient of determination analysis. From the Multiple Regression Analysis, the regression equation Y=1.03819 + 0.521X2-0.612X3 is obtained. The constant of 1.03819 means that the increase in capital expenditure allocation is 1.03819 percent if there is no increase in local revenue and transfer revenue. The regression coefficient of the local own-source revenue variable shows a positive influence on capital expenditure of 0.521. From the t-test results, it can be explained that local own-source revenue has a significant effect on capital expenditure, where the t-count> t-table value is obtained (2.701> 2.306). The regression coefficient of the local own-source revenue variable shows a negative effect on capital expenditure of 0.612. From the t-test results, it can be explained that transfer revenues have a significant effect on capital expenditures in South Tangerang City, where the t-count value is obtained < t-table (1.259 < 2.306). From the coefficient of determination analysis, it is known that local revenue and transfer revenue affect capital expenditure by 47.4%, while the remaining 52.6% is influenced by other variables outside this research model. Increased capital expenditure has an important role because it has a long-term benefit period to provide services to the public because infrastructure development and the provision of various facilities are carried out to increase investment attractiveness. Industrial infrastructure development has a real impact on the increase in local revenue. So that if the Regional Government wants to improve public services and people's welfare by increasing capital expenditure, then the Regional Government must strive to explore as much local revenue as possible.
