While the leverage variable (DER) has a positive and significant effect on the profitability variable (ROA). The ability of the independent variable in explaining the dependent variable can be seen from the analysis of the coefficient of determination R2 of 0.359%. This means that only 35.9% profitability (ROA) which can be explained by the variables of sales growth, receivables turnover, inventory turnover, company size and leverage (DER). While the remaining 64.1% is explained by other variables that are not included in this study.

The existence of an internal audit function (IAF) is essential to describe companies following the criteria of good corporate governance, so it needs to be further investigated because there is still a lack of research discussing IAF. This research is a quantitative study using secondary data in annual reports of companies included in LQ45 in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Data processing is done with a different approach to using SEM-PLS. Our findings show that the level of internal risk, external agency risk, and corporate governance is not significant to internal audit functions (IAF).
