The aim of this study is to reveal the positive and negative results of uninterrupted education in preschool education institutions based on the views of teachers and administrators. The research is a qualitative study and descriptive and content analysis were applied for the data obtained by using semi-structured interview forms. The study group consists 30 teachers and 11 administrators working in 6 independent kindergarten in the central district of Sanliurfa in the 2017-2018 academic year. According to the results of the research; uninterrupted education in preschool education institutions is considered as a negative aspect in terms of teachers' not being able to meet the basic needs such as eating-drinking and resting. On the other hand, the uninterrupted education is considered to be positive in terms of socializing children, undivided activities, and children's safety. It was found that there are differences between the views of teachers and administrators Teachers and principals have suggested that it can be better to have regular breaks, shortened class hours, support staff in the classroom, and multipurpose halls which can be formed by making the school garden and its interior parts safer and more equipped.
This article examines Turkey's energy relations with the Middle East from a perspective of opportunities and limitations brought about by the structure of Turkey's general energy relations. As Turkish foreign policy and energy strategy become increasingly integrated, Turkish-Middle East energy relations offer a solid test case on the soundness and applicability of not only Turkey's energy strategy, but also for the success of Turkey's foreign policy during the last decade. Analyzing Middle East energy and the structure of Turkey's energy (im)balances, this article goes on to explore Turkey's energy relations with individual Middle East countries and questions the results achieved. While doing so, it also puts and evaluates Turkey's energy strategy within the context of Turkish foreign policy. It argues that as the result of diverse effects and influences of policies observed by Turkish officials, as well as an array of structural factors, the gains of Turkey's energy strategy and its future success remains questionable, while the case of energy strategy provides a telling case on the success of Turkish foreign policy
The three books under review enlighten different aspects of Turkey's turbulent relationship with Islam, secularism, modernity, democracy, and military. While one of them is an edited book that includes critical articles of renowned scholars, the other two focus on the highly controversial Turkish Gülen Movement. By virtue of their topics and regarding the positions they take, these works not only indicate the main political and social divisions in Turkey, but also shed light on recent debates in Turkish politics. Describing the main themes of the works and indicating what they mean in the Turkish political and social context, this review essay calls attention to the increasing ambiguity of distinguishing right from wrong, even when it comes to seemingly veritable information, in Turkey. This article points out the polarized atmosphere in the country, which can be perceived from the arguments raised in the books under review as well, and asks, “who decides on the exception?” and “what is the minimum criteria for consistency for political analysis in a fiercely contested political environment?”
This research aims to reveal the problems about the work fields of school administrators in kindergartens and the solutions suggestions related to these problems based on the opinions of the administrators. The research was carried out in the case study (multiple case study), one of the qualitative research designs. The data used in the research were obtained by using semi-structured interview forms. The data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The study population consists of the administrators working in the independent kindergartens in Sanlıurfa centrum in the 2018-1019 academic year. The maximum diversity sampling was used in the study. The research study group consists of 29 school administrators and 26 deputy managers working 29 independent kindergartens in Sanlıurfa centrum. First of all, regarding the problems experienced in the research, it has been inferred that enough support staff to perform the cleaning and security tasks were not provided to the schools. The administrators have indicated that the number of substitute teachers is high in the system and they do not have the necessary field knowledge as another problem. The fact that dual education is a problem in itself and that the Ministry does not provide a subsidy to kindergartens is one of the findings of the study. Providing schools with a sufficient number of support staff, ending dual education and switching to regular education, abolishing the practice of substitute teachers, and having the Ministry transfer subsidies to schools are proposed solutions developed by administrators.
