Objectives: To evaluate the anti-oxidative role of Resveratrol in Cisplatin-induced testicular toxicity in Albino Wistar rats. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Settings: Department of Physiology and Postgraduate Laboratory of ISRA University Hyderabad. Period: Six months from March to September 2019. Material & Methods: Twenty-four male albino Wistar rats were distributed equally into; Group-I (Control), Group-II (Cisplatin), Group-III (Cisplatin + Resveratrol). Difference in mean pre and post-experimental body weight was observed while analysis of oxidative markers, semen parameters, and histomorphology was carried out in all three groups. SPSS ver. 22 was used to analyze the data. Results: The mean body weight decreased from 241.7±8.5 gm to 196.50±9.34 gm and from 237±7.4 gm to 210.0 ± 6.50gm in groups II and III respectively. Statistically significant reduction in semen parameters (sperm count, motility and viability) was observed in Group-II compared with Group-C (p<0.05). Oxidative markers were also significantly depleted in Group-II in comparison to Group-C (p<0.05). Histologically, testicular structure was found to be intact in Group-I. Marked changes were observed in testicular histology of Group-II while Group-III displayed less testicular damage. Irregular, regressive and atrophic seminiferous tubules were seen in Group-II. Most seminiferous tubules having normal morphology were observed in Group-III while the number of atrophic and degenerative seminiferous tubules also decreased significantly. Conclusion: Resveratrol therapy is a potent protective regime showing promising results in cisplatin-induced testicular toxicity and oxidative stress.
Background: Raphanus sativus is a cruciferous plant which possess free radical scavenging properties that defend the body against the deleterious effects of reactive oxygen species. To evaluate the protective role of Raphanus sativus in CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity through assessment of liver function and oxidative stress markers in albino Wistar rats. Material and Methods: Quasi-experimental study was conducted from September 2019 to March 2020 at the Postgraduate Research Laboratory, Isra University, Hyderabad. Non-random purposive sampling was used for selecting Albino Wistar rats. All rats were then divided equally into three different groups: Group A (control group), Group B (CCl4 experimental group), and Group C (CCl4 plus Raphanus sativus group). Blood samples were collected through cardiac puncture followed by hepatic histopathological analysis using light microscope. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 24, with ANOVA and Post hoc Tukey analysis used for comparison of different study variables. Results: Statistically significant rise relative liver weight of group B rats compared with the group A and C rats (P <.05). Moreover, statistically significant (P <0.05) rise in serum markers of hepatic functions was observed after CCl4 administration in Group B. Treatment with Raphanus Sativus administration significantly reduced serum levels of LFTs (p<0.05). There was a significant decline in the plasma levels of oxidative markers in group B while marked histopathological changes like necrosis, sinusoidal dilatation and congestion observed among animals of group B. Conclusion: Raphanus Sativus exerts an anti-oxidative, anti- and hepatoprotective effect against CCl4-induced hepatic tissue damage.

Here, we present the case of a 58-year-old female with recurrent hospital visits for wheezing and exacerbations of asthma, who was later found to have a vocal cord nodule confirmed to be squamous cell carcinoma, which was mimicking like asthma.
