A ceramic consisting of a dispersion of Zr02 particles (=25%) in zircon was prepared by sintering partially leached plasma dissociated zircon. ZrOz particles smaller than -150 nm 'were tetragonal in form; larger particles were monoclinic. The large increase in proportions of tetragonal ZrOz after sintering may be ascribed partly to a reduction in particle size by reaction to form zircon, and partly to a matrix effect on the tetragonal to monoclinic transformation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
