Blended-based training is a best alternative choice for equalization of training in Indonesia's district area in the Covid-19 pandemic era considering the low competency of teachers in Indonesia at this time. This research was applied on improving the teachers' professionalism in Indonesia's remote area in order to act their main roles on preparing the learning administration. The research method used was experimental research by one-group pre-test and post-test design. Research subject were from normative and adaptive teacher at in remote areas of North Sumatera Province in Indonesia with 31 teachers. The instrument which used was portfolio and individual test by writing the lesson plan and all tasks collected by google drive. The data analysis technique was performed using SPSS Statistic 20 by one simple paired t-test. The result of this study showed that blended-based training could improve the teachers' profesionalism where the significan value (2-tailed) was 0.00 < 0.05. It mean that there was a significant difference of values where the post-test score was bigger than the pretest score.
Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di SD N 004 Sagulung Kota Batam yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang dasar-dasar bahasa inggris untuk dapat diaplikasikan dalam berkomunikasi sehari-hari secara sederhana dan berterima.Peserta pelatihan ini terdiri dari 29 peserta.Pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dengan memberikan dua kali test, yaitu test periode pertama dan test periode kedua. Hasil test periode pertama menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-ratanya adalah sebesar 40. Sedangkan hasil test pada periode kedua adalah sebesar 79. Bisa disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan antara hasil test periode pertama dengan test periode kedua sebesar 39 %.
This research is aimed to:1) describe the students’common errors in writing recount text, 2) classify the most dominant typesof the students’ errors in writing recount text at the eighth grade students of SMP N 40 Batam in academic year 2016/2017. The research was conducted on April 2017 which was held at the eighth grade students with the number of sample was 70 students. The researcher gave written test to collect data and the method that was appliedin this research by qualitative method. The result of the research showed the dominant error of classification error in writing recount text was verbs tense error which the percentage was 27.82% with the number 444 errors, 22.43% error of punctuation with the number 358 errors, 14.79% error of unnecessary word with the number 236 errors, 10.84% error of missing word with the number 173 errors, 7.77% error of subject verb agreement with the number 124 errors, 4.51% error of noun singular/plural with the number 72 errors, 4.39% error of word form with the number 70 errors, 3.82% error of sentence fragment with the number 61 errors and 3.63% error of article with the number 58 errors.Keywords: Error Analysis, Writing, Recount Text
This study aimed to investigate the students’ perception of using video dubbing project in teaching speaking for fourth semester students UNRIKA in academic year 2018-2019. A set of questionnaires and open-ended interview were conducted to obtain the data. Data were categorized into three levels namely positive, neutral, and negative. The results revealed almost all students perceived positive perception towards the implementation of video dubbing project in teaching speaking. The result of interview was also in line with result obtained through questionnaires. Students admitted that they performed better speaking skill after the implementation of video dubbing. They also felt being engaged in learning activity and triggered them to be more active. They considered video dubbing was fun, challenging, and can be done anytime and anywhere. In light of the findings, it can be considered as a favorable and effective teaching activity to enhance students’ speaking skill.
Learning media is an important component in learning. One of the media that can be used is audio visual media. The aim of this study was to develop a feasible Audio Visual Text Module on Congratulation and Compliment Expressions as learning media.This reasearch was conducted at Karang Taruna RW 17 English Course Sei Langkai, Batam, and research and development (R&D)Hannafin and Peck modelwas used. The instrument used to collect data in this research wasquestionnaireswhich validated by material and media experts, then shared to tutors and studentsusing a Likert scale. Product trial obtained 77.02% for students response and it was categorized as ‘agree’ category. Meanwhile it obtained 76.67% for tutor rensponse and it was categorized as ‘agree’ category.Usage trial obtained 87.07% for students response and it was categorized as ‘strongly agree’ category. Meanwhile it obtained 88.66 for tutor rensponse and it was categorized as ‘strongly agree’ category. The products of this research are module and audio visual (MP4) about Congratulating and Compliment Expressions, and both are neccessary to be used as learning media.
