SUMMARYThe synthesis of t h e t i t l e compound (9 is described.The condensation of 3-aminopropanol with phthalic anhydride and subsequent t r e a t m e n t with phosphorousAcylation w i t h 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde, reduction with hydrogen o v e r Raney nickel a n d subsequent t r e a t m e n t with thionyl chloride g a v e N-[ 3-(3-chloromethyIphenoxy) propyl ] phthalimide Q).piperidine introduced t h e radiolabel 5). Deprotection of t h e a m i n o group with hydrazine a n d t r e a t m e n t with 3-methoxy-4-amino-3-cyclobutene-l,2-dione produced 1-T r e a t m e n t with hydrochloric acid yielded t h e t i t l e compound (3 in a n overall c h e m i c a l yield of 22%.
