The article deals with the problem of communication and socialization of students with severe multiple developmental disorders. Special attention is paid to the training of alternative communication tools within the framework of the correctional and developmental course "Alternative Communication". A set of exercises and games for mastering pictographic symbols is presented. As a result of the conducted research, it was concluded that with the use of special exercises and games, teaching alternative communication means in children with combined defects is more effective: the student can communicate, express their desires and needs, and most importantly be understood not only by classmates and school teachers, but also by those people who do not own alternative communication means. communication using the "communication album".
