St. John Cassian, the great disciple of Antiochian John Chrysostom, brought to the West not only an alexandrian christology, but also the tradition of Eastern monastic life. The foundation of two monasteries in Marseille (415), alongside his work, shows that the human vocation is assuming the road to Christ. The path to perfection is for every christian to follow their specific vocation, but the supported principles and lived by monks always been a landmark for all Christians. The parallelism between the monastic life and angels shows that monastery has a similar mission to angels, which is to convey the true faith confession.
