Although this method does not qualify as one of extreme accuracy, it does offer for the first time a means of estimating pyroand triphosphoric acids, or their salts, in the presence of one another. Since it can also be used in the presence of both orthoand metaphosphates, it offers a means of determining the composition of the soluble phosphate glasses as well as mixtures of the dehydrated phosphates.

Precipitation of the Hydrogen SulfideGroup of Ion using ThioacetamideIn the current texts in qualitative analysis there is considerable variation in the procedures recommended for precipitation of the hydrogen sulfide group using thioacetamide as the source of hydrogen sulfide. Hogness and Johnson1 substitute thioacetamide for H2S gas without change in the concentration of the II+ ion. Barber and Taylor2 begin the precipitation at the classical H+ ion concentration of 0.2-0.AM, and then dilute the solution to O.lilf H+ ion concentration for complete precipitation of PbS, CdS, and SnS. Kang3 uses essentially the same I ml of 1 M thioacetamide solution and dilute to 5 ml. Transfer the solution to 13-X 100-mm test tube.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
