This research analyzes the hypertextual discourse of four French scientific popularization magazine websites: Futura-Sciences, Pour la Science, Science & Vie, Sciences et avenir. Our approach, based on digital discourse analysis, focuses more in general on dissemination of scientific knowledge to lay people. At a macro-linguistic level, we will identify from the homepage the popularizing and/or commercial intention of these magazines, as well as the type of digitalization of each magazine, which generally publishes also a more ancient version which is not freely available to the public. At a micro-linguistic level, our analysis deals with the techno-discursive structure of one document per website, namely as far as hyperlinks are concerned. As a consequence, we will place our documents on a scalar level of digitalization and innovation, reached by productions which originally come from the web.
The Editors of this volume were keen to discuss with Stanley Johnson some past, present and future core issues around Brexit and how the UK has handled the coronavirus pandemic. The interview started in May 2021 during a conference on the platform Microsoft Teams, titled “Post-Brexit political discourse at the time of COVID-19”, of which the Department of Political Science at the University of Bari Aldo Moro holds the video. Two years on, we asked our guest to continue the interview and give us some updates, after the several events that have occurred in the UK and in the world. The Editors want to thank Stanley Johnson for accepting a few more questions. The second set of questions was answered in writing in April 2023.
