Nowadays, the necessity and utilization of Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) technologies increase in rural areas. Financial technology became a crucial thing and created efficiency in their activities. Some previous research uncovers technology that could create efficiency in the economy, including financial technology. This paper, interest in investigating and detect how ATM technology establishes financial efficiency on villagers. This research was conducted in rural communities on the island of Madura, Indonesia. This study uses SFA (Stochastic Frontier Analysis) model to estimate technical efficiency. This research found out that ATMs in rural communities on Madura Island produce highly financial efficiency. It proved that the villagers in Madura need ATM technology for carrying out their economic activities.
This study is aimed to analyze the role and the effectiveness of micro waqf bank in encouraging the economy of young mothers in the village in Madura. This study applied a survey approach by spreading questionnaires to 136 respondents of two Micro Waqf Bank in Sumenep, they are (1) Micro Waqf Banks Kariman Birajuda Al Karimiyyah that is located at Jalan Raya Gapura, Braji Village, Sub-District Gapura, District Semenep; and (2) Micro Waqf Bank Alpen Barokah Mandiri that is located at Jalan Raya Sumenep-Pamekasan, Pragaan Laok Village, Sub-District Pragaan, District Sumenep. Data that have been collected were analyzed by applying ANP Model. The result shows that Micro Waqf Bank in Madura has a role in supporting the economy of young mothers in the village. The role that can be supported and need to be prioritized by Micro Waqf Bank in encouraging the business in Madura are supporting financial aspects, marketing/business aspects, and human resources aspects. The results of the research are expected to be used as a reference and input for policymakers and related parties involved in the management of the economy of villagers so that they can provide positive input for the improvement, progress and development of villagers.
The tourism sector is one of the essential sectors that drive economic growth. There are many tourist destinations in Madura Island that have uniqueness, where the tourism is based on beaches, culture, history, and even religion. However, the existence of tourist destinations has not been widely felt by the Madurese community economically. Therefore, tourism development in Madura needs attention, considering the tourism sector plays a vital role in encouraging economic growth. This research uses scalogram analysis and K-Means Clustering analysis. The scalogram analysis consists of Location Coefficient (LC) analysis which reflects the level of importance of a facility in an area, and functional index analysis, which is used to measure the hierarchy of facilities in each district or region. Meanwhile, the K-Means Clustering analysis is intended to see the Madura tourism clusters. This study indicates that Sumenep Regency can be the centre of tourism growth in attractions, amenities, and accessibility. The analysis shows that Sumenep Regency is the closest distance to the cluster centre or can be categorized as an advanced cluster. Then, Pamekasan Regency is a less developed cluster because it is far from the cluster centre. This research provides some recommendation in increasing economic growth in Madura.
