AbstractThe objective of this work was to evaluate the potential alelopatico of aqueous extract of aerial part fresh Melaleuca alternifolia (Cheel) on the germination of seeds of Brachiaria brizantha subjected to bioassay of laboratory. The aqueous extracts were tested at concentrations of 0% (distilled water -witness), 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%, obtained by means of dilution in distilled water. The objective of this study was to evaluate the germination percentage, germination speed index and average time of germination. All characteristics were submitted to analysis of variance and means compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. It was found that in B. brizantha concentrations above 20% reduced, significantly, the percentage of germination and compared to control (0%) there was a difference of 36.65% on germination. For average germination time the negative effects began at a concentration of 10% being that with the treatments successors did not differ statistically among themselves.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
