A B S T R A C T BACKGROUNDThe main goal of treatment and care of chronic patients including patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing haemodialysis is to promote their health. This study has been performed with the aim of examining the effect of tele-nursing on health promoting behaviours of haemodialysis patients in educational hospitals of Zahedan city in 2017-2018. METHODSThis quasi-experimental study was performed on patients undergoing haemodialysis who qualified the inclusion criteria. The number of participants in this study was 60 (30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group) chosen through available sampling and then random allocation. For data collection, health promotion standard questionnaire was used. After beginning the intervention and implementing educational programs in three sessions, the patients in the intervention group had telephone follow-up for 12 weeks. RESULTSThe mean and standard deviation of agent in the intervention and control group were as follows: x ̅ =44.56 and SD=10.59; x ̅ =42.3 and SD=11.56, respectively. The mean scores of different areas of the health promotion questionnaire before and after the intervention in the two groups using paired t-test and Lewin indicated that in the dimensions of exercise (p value= 0.002), stress (p value= 0.01), interpersonal relationships (p value= 0.006), and responsibility (p value=0.006) were significant, but it was insignificant in the dimensions of nutrition and spiritual growth. CONCLUSIONSSince health behaviours had been promoted in the intervention group as compared to the control group, it can be thus concluded that with proper policymaking and planning in employing telephone follow-up, one can promote health behaviours and take steps to properly plan for improving the health status of patients.
Background:Most basic nursing skill is communicating with the patient. Nurses must be able to provide their professional services well for patients while communicating with them therefore examining the professional skills of nursing students as those who make the future nursing community is of great importance. Objective:The aim of this study was Investigation of nursing students’ verbal communication quality during patients’ Education in Zahedan hospitals: southeast of IranMaterials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 95 nursing students in two Educational hospitals of Zahedan, Iran from November 2013 through March 2014.sampling method was census. Researcher made checklist was used to gather the data. Statistical tests of frequency distribution, mean, SD and chi-squire were used to analyze the data. Results:Most of the students in the start N=45 (47.4%) and during N=48 (50.5%) of verbal communication with the patients had the good verbal communication but in the end of communication the patients most students N=33 (34.7%) had average verbal communication and N=31 (32.6%) of them had poor verbal communication. Conclusion:Since quality of verbal communication in the end of patient education is poor and good communication between the patient and nurse is the basic component of patient care and its Educational plans should be coordinated with clinical practices and be parallel to it, also effective methods must be used.
Background: Among acute coronary patients, the ratio of non ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) is increasing and according to recent studies, less than 30% of myocardial infarctions (MIs) are due to ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Unlike STEMI, in NSTEMI the ECG is not able to identify the culprit vessel. Objectives: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the association of mean platelet volume (MPV) and NSTEMI due to left anterior descending lesion. Methods: In this cross sectional study 349 patients with NSTEMI were included. Major cardiac risk factors (cigarette, diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), hyperlipidemia (HLP), angiographic findings, and drug history of patients were extracted from patients’ medical files. Then the MPV in complete blood count results and angiography findings were analyzed for any association. According to culprit lesions patients were divided into left anterior descending (LAD) and non-LAD groups. Results: There was a significant difference between the two groups (LAD vs. non-LAD) according to platelet count (P = 0.014), MPV (P = 0.001), HLP (0.024) and DM (0.048). Multivariate regression model has shown the MPV (OR = 0.46, 95%CI = 0.27 - 0.78) and DM (OR = 0.18, 95%CI = 0.06 - 0.54) as independent risk factors for NSTEMI due to LAD lesion. The significant positive correlation was also seen between MPV and left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) (r = 0.22, P = 0.006). The area under the curve (AUC) of MPV for predicting LAD culprit lesion was calculated as 69% (P < 0.0001). At cut off point of 9.15, has sensitivity and specificity of MPV for predicting LAD as culprit vessel was 100% and 30% respectively. Conclusions: In NSTEMI patients MPV might be a good tool to differentiate patients with LAD as culprit vessel.
Background and Purpose: Providing services in the nursing profession is very wide. In the field of clinical services, one of the most important is to provide care related to medication, which in fact is one of the ways to assess the quality of nursing care, so this study aims to provide a solution. Technical measures were taken to improve the performance of nurses in the drug delivery process in hospitals affiliated to Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in Iran Materials and Methods: This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and contractual content analysis method in 2017-18. Participants were 16 nurses and a physician working in different wards of the hospital who were included in the study by purposive sampling. The method of data collection was semi-structured interviews. All interviews were conducted and reviewed and analyzed by contractual content analysis. Results: In the present study, "steps to prevent drug error" as the main category and "acting professionally" and "providing technical solutions" as two subcategories were extracted from the data. Conclusion: The results showed that the use of nurses 'experience and knowledge as technical solutions to prevent drug errors can play an important role in improving nurses' performance and increasing patient safety
