The paper presents some aspects referring to the synthesis of niobium activated yttrium orthotantalate phosphor (YTaO4:Nb), utilisable in the manufacture of X-ray intensifying screens for medical diagnosis. The influence of some preparative conditions such as activator concentration and firing regime on the crystalline structure and luminescent characteristics are investigated. Photoluminescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and FT-JR spectroscopy are used to evaluate the material quality.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
