The Characterization of Two Superior Varieties of Banana from Lumajang Regency East Java. Lumajang regency is one of the banana production centre in East Java having highdiversity of banana germ plasm. There are 33 cultivars of banana germ plasm in the regency, consist of The aim of this study were to identify, characterize, and inventarize of banana tree and use as reference characteristics of banana tree. The characteristic of banana's Agung Semeru variety could be seen by the colour of pseudostem (light red), the uniqueness of fruit set, number of sucker per cluster (only 1-2 suckers per cluster), the size of the finger (33-36 cm long) and 19 cm around) and the number of hand per bunch (only 1-2 hand per bunch) with the weight around 10-20 kg/bunch. Superior characteristics of the Agung Semeru variety were the thickness of fruit skin, the long period of fruit storage (3-4 weeks after harvesting) and the sweetness of fruit flesh. Even though the skin changes from yellow to black, the flesh still could be consume, because it doesn't become soft. This variety could be used for the raw material of small and middle home industries. The characteristic of banana Mas Kirana variety could be seen by the colour of pseudostem (brownish-red), number of sucker per cluster (only 2-3 suckers per cluster), the size of the finger was small and prefered by the consumer with yellowish colour, the weight around 11-13 kg/bunch. Superior characteristics of the Mas Kirana variety were sweetness, fresh and crispy of fruit flesh, beside those character also could be used for banana's cakes and had short period of production. In additions those varieties were also resistant to the Sygatoka disease compared to other plantain cultivars.Keywords: Banana, characterization, superior variety. ABSTRAKKabupaten Lumajang Jawa Timur, merupakan salah satu wilayah yang mempunyai keragaman plasma nutfah pisang. Di daerah ini terdapat 33 plasma nutfah pisang yang terdiri atas pisang sebagai buah meja dan pisang olahan. Varietas unggul pisang di Kabupaten Lumajang adalah Agung Semeru (Musa paradisiaca) sebagai pisang olahan dan Mas Kirana (Musa acumunata) sebagai buah segar. Kedua varietas pisang tersebut tumbuh pada ketinggian 450-650 m dpl. Eksplorasi dilakukan dengan cara mengumpulkan dan mengidentifikasi tanaman, bentuk tumbuhan, dan habitat. Kegiatan eksplorasi dilakukan di dua kecamatan, yaitu Senduro dan Pasrujambe, pada bulan Mei 2006 hingga Maret 2007. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi, menginventarisasi, dan mengkarakterisasi tanaman pisang, sehingga dapat disusun berbagai karakter tanaman. <p>Central Kalimantan Province covers an area of 15,38 million ha which consist of 61,140 ha coastal region, 1,53 million ha open waters, and 13,79 million ha as inland area. The continental area consisted of various type of lands e.g. acid sulphate, peats soil, and up land. In order to explore and conserve potential medicinal plants indigenous to Central Kalimantan, these exploration and characterization activities were conducted. Method of study: (1) exploration, (2) ex situ conservation, (3) characterization, and (4) documentation. The result of these activities are ex situ collection of 15 acessions of medicinal crops. This exploration obtained 15 accessions of medicinal plants which were characterized and conserved in ex situ condition.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Kalimantan Tengah memiliki luas wilayah 15,38 juta ha yang terdiri dari 61,1 ribu ha daerah pantai, 1,53 juta ha daerah perairan umum, dan 17,79 juta ha daratan. Wilayah daratan yang luas ini terdiri atas berbagai tipologi lahan seperti lahan sulfat masam, gambut, dan lahan kering. Untuk menggali potensi dan melestarikan plasma nutfah tanaman obat spesifik Kalimantan Tengah telah dilaksanakan kegiatan eksplorasi dan karakterisasi. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disusun deskripsi berbagai jenis tanaman tersebut untuk inventarisasi, karakterisasi, dan koleksi tanaman obat secara ex situ dalam bentuk kebun pembibitan. Metode kegiatan meliputi (1) eksplorasi, (2) konservasi ex situ, (3) karakterisasi, dan (4) dokumentasi. Hasil kegiatan adalah koleksi secara ex situ tanaman obat sebanyak 15 aksesi.</p>
The study had been conducted in dry land a site in East Java was in Kediri District during the rainy season I, 2018 -2019. The research was designed in RBD, 4 replicates, and 6 treatments, namely : A = without fertilizer, B = 300 Urea ha-1 + 400 kg NPK Phonska ha-1 (Recommended Rates of Inorganic Fertilizers or RRIF), C = RRIF + 1 ton dolomite ha-1, D = RRIF + 2 tons dolomite ha-1, E = RRIF + 3 tons dolomite ha-1, and F = RRIF + 4 tons dolomite ha-1. Data analysis used ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) and followed by DMRT test 5%. The results showed that the application of RRIF + 4 tons dolomite ha-1 obtained of dry seeds yield of corn 7.68 tons ha-1 (increased of 23.87%) from the RRIF, B/C-ratio 1.73, and R/C-ratio 2.36. Fertilizers treatment F = RRIF + 4 tons dolomite ha-1 showed it effectiveness with effectiveness of 174.4% (RAE > 100%).
<p>Exploration of relative of mango species, Mangifera indica L., Mangifera foetida L., Mangifera sp., Mangifera casturi D., and Bouea macropylla Griff was conducted in 4 districts of Central Kalimantan in April 2003 to January 2004. Differences among accesions were characterized by fruit type, shape, skin texture, fruit length, skin colour, flesh texture, flesh colour and taste. Fruiting season and yield among relative manggo of species are different. The results of characterization may be used as materials in mango breeding.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Eksplorasi spesies kerabat mangga, yaitu Hambawang (Mangifera foetida L.), Putaran (Mangifera sp.), Kasturi (Mangifera casturi D.), dan Gandaria (Bouea macropylla Griff) dilakukan di empat kabupaten di Kalimantan Tengah pada bulan April 2003 sampai Januari 2004. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa karakter buah antarspesies kerabat mangga sangat bervariasi. Perbedaan di antara spesies tersebut terletak pada tipe buah, bentuk buah, tekstur kulit buah, panjang buah, warna kulit buah, daging buah, warna dan rasa daging buah. Musim berbuah dan produksi buah masing-masing spesies kerabat mangga juga bervariasi. Hasil karakterisasi dapat digunakan untuk bahan pemuliaan buah mangga.</p>
<p>Potensi pengembangan padi hibrida di Provinsi Jawa Timur cukup bagus dan sangat prospektif dan ini dapat terlihat bahwa Provinsi Jawa Timur telah menyumbang pasokan beras nasional sebesar 17% dari kebutuhan. Berdasarkan atas fakta ini maka pengujian varietas padi hibrida perlu dilanjutkan dalam rangka meningkatkan kontribusi padi di Provinsi Jawa Timur. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk meningkatkan produktivitas padi nasional, khususnya bagi Provinsi Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Kepuharjo, Kecamatan Karangploso, Kabupaten Malang selama bulan Maret sampai dengan Juli 2011 di lahan sawah pada Musim Kemarau I (MK I). Ketinggian tempat 460 meter di atas permukaan laut. Padi hibrida yang diuji terdiri atas 10 galur hibrida dan 4 varietas padi hibrida sebagai pembanding. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan empat ulangan. Ukuran petak 4,0 m x 5,0 m,jarak tanam 20 cm x 20 cm, umur bibit 21 Hari Setelah Sebar (HSS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa galur yang superior GMJ7/BH95e-Mr-15-6-2-3 dan A3/BH25d-MR-2-2-3-B galur inferior, masing - masing mempunyai hasil tertinggi dan terendah sebesar 5,13dan 2,63 ton Gabah Kering Panen (GKP)/ha. </p>
