Objectives: To relate the decrease in the severity of CAP in populations with appropriate vaccination coverage; and Explain alternatives to increase the number of individuals immunized with PCV10. Methodology: This is a bibliographical review carried out from original articles and review articles carried out in the databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and National Library of Medicine (PubMED) in the period of November 2022, using the following descriptors: “Pneumonia”, “Pediatrics” and “Vaccine coverage” with the aid of the Boolean operator “AND”. The inclusion criteria consisted of articles written in Portuguese, English and Spanish; published between 2017 and 2022, excluding incomplete texts, dissertations, theses and monographs. A total of 85 articles were found, of which, after analysis, 5 were considered relevant to the topic in question. Results and discussion: From the articles, it was seen that the decrease in the incidence of CAP in childhood was noticed over the years, this is mainly due to the implementation of interventions, such as conjugate vaccines and therapeutic strategies. However, the decrease in adherence to vaccines has become a problem. Over the years, the number of people who hesitate to participate in vaccination programs in Brazil and in the world has increased. This is worrying, because if children are not vaccinated, they are exposed to diseases with a high incidence, such as Pneumonia. Conclusion: CAP is still a major public health problem, requiring more specific studies and greater investments in health care. In addition, the increase in vaccination coverage is essential for the reduction of hospitalizations and mortality due to pneumonia caused by pneumococcus in Brazil.

Além disso, é visível a necessidade da atuação da equipe multiprofissional, para propagar e promover essa técnica de forma ampla, e materna, para uma aumentar os índices de permanência do aleitamento materno.
