A QSPR study was realized in order to predict the Retention Times (RT) determined from interaction between two types of solutes (alcohols and esters) and six Stationary Phases (SPs), five of them specials (1a -e) and a classical one (OV-25), by correlating the adjusted RTs, t 0 R determined for each SPs at temperature between 70 and 140 8C with the values of molecular descriptors implemented in CODESSA program. New topological indices R AF (for alcohols) and D A (for esters) derived from local invariants of chemical graphs of alcohols and esters determine an increase in predictive power of models where these descriptors have been used.

2006 Crown ethers V 1350 Synthesis and Properties of Bis-Dinitrophenyl Derivatives of 1,7,10,16-Tetraoxa-4,13-diazacyclooctadecane (Kryptofix 22). -Starting from the title compound a series of new crown ether derivatives (I) is synthesized by SNAr-type reactions. Solid sodium-or potassium aroxides with formyl and alkoxy substituents were reacted with 2-(α-bromoacetyl)-phenoxathiin 3 in the presence of crown ethers (15C5 or 18C6, respectively). When the formyl and hydroxy groups were in meta-or para-positions the resulting fluorescent compounds were 2-(α-formylaryloxyacetyl)-phenoxathiins 4a-d; however, when these substituents were in the ortho position, the fluorescent products were benzo[b]furyl 2-phenoxathiinyl ketones 5e-h, or naphtho[3,2-b]furyl 2-phenoxathiinyl ketone 8. The chromatographic behavior of compounds 4a-d, 5e-h, and 8 was investigated by TLC and reverse-phase-TLC (RP-TLC) for the hydrophobicity properties.
