The aim of this systematic review is to investigate the prevalence of female sexual dysfunction in the Brazilian population. This is a systematic review conducted in July 2016 in which four databases were searched: MEDLINE/Pubmed, Scopus, LILACS, and Cinahl. Two investigators extracted the primary data, which were fully analyzed, and applied the inclusion/exclusion criteria. The search found 113 results, and 20 of them compounded the scope of this study. Only four of the studies showed good methodology quality. The main diagnostics criteria used were validated questionnaires specific for sexual function assessment. Regarding the variation of prevalence values, female sexual dysfunction ranged from 13.3% to 79.3% of the studied population, while this value for changes in sexual desire ranged from 11% to 75%, arousal from 8% to 68.2%, lubrication from 29.1% to 41.4%, orgasm from 18% to 55.4%, and satisfaction from 3.3% to 42%; sexual activity frequency ranged from 55.8% to 78.5%, dyspareunia from 1.2% to 56.1%, and pleasure modifications was not addressed. Beside the divergences among studies, there is still a high prevalence of female sexual dysfunction in Brazil.
Objectives: To investigate the inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, construct validity and internal consistency of the Brazilian version of the Nottingham Sensory Assessment for Stroke Patients (NSA). Methods: The instrument was translated into Portuguese from its original in English by a bilingual translator and was then back-translated into English. Twenty-one hemiparetics were evaluated by two examiners using the NSA and the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) of physical performance. Results: Significant correlation were found between the FMA and the NSA (r=0.752). The NSA showed excellent internal consistency (0.86), and there were acceptable inter-and intra-rater reliability for all items of the NSA, except temperature. Significant ceiling effects were found for the NSA and the FMA. Conclusions: The Brazilian version of the NSA met the criteria for agreement, internal consistency and concurrent validity. It was quick and easy to apply, and it could be used within clinical practice in neuro-rehabilitation outpatient clinics to assess sensory functions following stroke. The significant ceiling effect for the NSA did not limit its use, given that for the same patients, the FMA also showed ceiling effects.Key words: stroke; disability evaluation; validity tests; sensation; rehabilitation.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) assessment test (CAT) reflects the functional status of patients with COPD. Forty-seven patients underwent anthropometric assessment, spirometry, the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), the Glittre-activity of daily living (ADL) test (TGlittre), the London Chest ADL (LCADL) scale, and the CAT. The total score of the CAT correlated with 6MWT distance, TGlittre time spent, and LCADL %total (r ¼ À0.56, 0.52, and 0.78, respectively; p < 0.05 for all). There was significant difference in 6MWT distance (490 + 85.4 m vs. 387 + 56.8 m), TGlittre time spent (3.67 + 1.07 min vs. 5.03 + 1.32 min), and LCADL %total (24.2 + 3.02% vs. 44.4 + 13.3%) between the low and high impacts of COPD on health status (respectively, p < 0.05 for all) as well as in the LCADL %total between medium and high impact of COPD on health status (31.3 + 7.35% vs. 44.4 + 13.3%; p ¼ 0.001). In conclusion, the CAT reflects the functional status of patients with COPD.
