Teaching learning materials (TLM) has been widely recognised as one of most important components in language teaching to support the success of language learning. TLM is essential for teachers in planning their lessons, assisting them in their professional duty, and use them as rosources to describe instructions. This writing reviews 10 (ten) teaching learning materials in the form of cousebooks, games, worksheets, and audio video files. The materials were chosen randomly and were analysed qualitatively. The discussion of the materials is done individually by presenting their target learners, how they are applied by teachers and students, the aims of the use of the materials, and the role of teachers and learners in different kind of TLM.
The title of this study is The External Conflict Faced by The Main Character in Five Feet Apart Movie. This study focused on the external conflict faced by Stella Grant, the main character. The data of this study were taken from the Five Feet Apart movie and its script through documentation method and note-taking technique. The data is analyzed through qualitative research according to the theory of literature proposed by Kenney (1966) and Bernhardt (1953). Based on the analysis, it found that the main character faced man versus man and man versus nature external conflict. Man versus man conflict happens mostly in the movie. Meanwhile, for the psychological aspects that trigger the conflict, it is found only three from five classes of human motives that appear in this movie. Those motives are wanting, emotions, as well as feelings and attitudes.
This study is entitled "Code-Switching Analysis on YouTube Channel "#NebengBoy by Boy William”. The aim of the study is to analyze the type and the function of code-switching on the Boy William YouTube Channel. The data is collected from the YouTube Channel of Boy William which is taken from Maudy Ayunda and Sandra Dewi episodes. The method and technique of collecting data is the documentation method, and the analysis is done by the qualitative method. The theory that is used to analyze the types and functions of code-switching is Apple & Muysken's theory (2015). Three types of code-switching are found namely tag switching, intra-sentential switching, and inter-sentential switching, and their six functions, namely referential function, directive function, expressive function, phatic function, metalinguistic function, and poetic function. Nonetheless, the metalinguistic function is not found in the analyzed data.
This study focuses on analysing the students’motivation for studying Indonesian as a foreign language at Go Bali, a one-semester international study program at the University of Udayana, particularly investigating the students’motivation during the course and analyse how the environment influences their learning motivation. This study involved 76 foreign students and 4 instructors in four Indonesian Language classrooms at the program and the data were collected through survey techniques, classroom observations and interviews. The results show that the students’ motivation in learning Bahasa Indonesia is varied and in general is relatively low. However, the environment where they study the language has actually given an advantages for most students in which they become more motivated to pick up the knowledge of the language for their daily lives in Bali, apart from whether it will give further benefits for their future or not.
Penelitian tentang penggunaan bahasa oleh generasi muda selalu menarik untuk dilakukan. Penelitian ini memiliki duatujuan yaitu: 1) menganalisa bagaimana pengaruh bahasa Inggris terhadap pemakaian Bahasa Indonesia generasi mudamasa kini; dan 2) menawarkan solusi tentang upaya-upaya apa yang dapat dilakukan untuk pengembangan danpembinaan Bahasa Indonesia di kalangan generasi muda di era ini. Penelitian ini melibatkan 200 orang mahasiswaUniversitas Udayana dalam rentang usia 17-25 tahun. Untuk melakukan analisa, penelitian ini menggunakan tigaTeknik dalam pengumpulan data, yaitu: pengisian kuisioner oleh responden, perekaman secara tersembunyi percakapansehari-hari mahasiswa di lingkungan Universitas Udayana, serta pencatatan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukanbahwa responden cenderung menyelipkan Bahasa Inggris ke dalam percakapan berbahasa Indonesia mereka dalambentuk campur kode, dan menggunakan Indoglish. Dari analisa tersebut beberapa solusi diajukan sebagai upaya untukpemertahan dan pengembangan bahasa Indonesia di kalangan generasi muda, diantaranya: memperkuat perananorangtua dan pemerintah untuk menanamkan kecintaan dan rasa bangga berbahasa Indonesia, melakukan renovasi padapembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dan juga kampus dengan cara beralih ke pembelajaran berbasis teknologiyang sesuai dengan kondisi generasi ini, dan memantapkan peran generasi ini dalam menginternasionalisasikan BahasaIndonesia.
