The cheating can be viewed as a major educational problem with a broad social concern. The unethical behaviour of students can crucially influence their qualification, future employment and manners in their professional carrier. The contribution investigates the unethical behaviour of the students of the University of Life Sciences in Prague. The goal is to examine if the students would act unethically in an examination tests and in proceeding their assignments. The inquiry investigation based on self-assessments confirmed that the unethical behaviour is quite frequent, more frequent is the exam cheating. The responders do not feel that their behaviour is immoral, they are rather afraid of penalization. The reaction of the teachers and the university is necessary. It is essential to study the reasons of unethical behaviour to apply rectifying measures effectively. Keywords: unethical behaviour, university students, exam cheating behaviours, assignment cheating behaviour IntroductionThe unethical behaviour, exam cheating, and illegal collaboration on assignments including plagiarism are very frequent (Center for Academic Integrity, 1999 ). It is important to deal with the methods and frequency of such behaviour and also with the way it is perceived by the academia. The cheating during the studies leads to the disarray of the goals of the study. The students will not acquire the intended knowledge and skills, further more they adopt inappropriate working methods and immoral attitude to their duties. It is important for lecturers to show students how to establish their own effective learning strategies (Nguyen, 2010).The students continue to apply the improper working procedures in their future jobs what can cause the real economical damages as well as an injury of the employees' reputation (Smith et al., 2002).The students´ attitude to the study influences also the evaluation of the courses, teachers and the whole faculties and universities. It was proved (Jindrová et. al, 2013) that the students with a procrastinating attitude to the study duties are much more critical towards the teachers, the study materials, etc.The university's good name, reputation and competitiveness might be influenced as well. If the unethical behaviour is not systematically and persistently chased and penalized, the university can gain a reputation of a place where everybody obtains certificate without work. The goal-directed students with good study potential are then not interested in such an institution. Finally, the immoral behaviour of the students harms the work of the teachers and managers of the school.
The use of ICT has been steadily increasing in both business and social life. Apparently, the most essential communication technology today is a mobile phone. However, the use of mobile phones also has its downside, which is their impact on the environment, which is not negligible. Despite the negative impact on the environment, few of us can imagine a life without a mobile phone. The mobile telecommunications market is one of the most important sectors of the modern economy. Analysing past developments-as well as predicting future developments-of indicators in this area plays a very important role in decision making, as in any other area of the national economy. The extrapolation methods have been the most often applied methods in the area of time series analysis and forecasting in practice. Currently, the combined methods in time series forecasting is more and more favoured. The main aim of this paper is an examination of applicability of the Box-Jenkins methodology models and the exponential smoothing models for providing extrapolation forecasts, but for past development modelling of selected indicators from the telecom area, too. Information on the indicators under study was collected on monthly and daily basis. Quality of the models selected was then assessed using the MAPE and AIC metric. In conclusion, a comparative analysis was performed of both the groups of models. The best individual models were further aggregated and quality of these was assessed using the same assessment criteria. SAS statistical system was applied for effective implementation of the analysis. The research has demonstrated that the exponential smoothing models can only be recommended for the analysis of indicators under study from the mobile telecom area. The detailed analysis has proved, anyway, a higher level of success with the combined models.
The assessment of the e-learning courses as supportive tools for a blended learning environment is important for making the courses more useful and effective. A questionnaire survey based on a multiple criteria model (HELAM) was developed and applied to 536 students in the full time form of study. The evaluated courses were based on the LMS Moodle system. The statistical analysis showed generally high satisfaction of the users with the courses. Some problems were found in the communication between the students and the teachers. The most important negative influence can have the low motivation of students who are ready to work at the minimal extent, only to pass the exam. Subsequent test dealt with differences in answers of students from different branch of study, different year, men and women. Dependency of the answers on gender was not statistically significant. The most remarkable differences in the e-learning courses evaluation were found for the groups of students from the second and third year.
The Czech Republic does not have any central registry of rural tourism facilities; there is no information about the availability and quality of services or about their economic results. The goal of this contribution is to describe the current state of rural tourism in the Czech Republic, and to find the bottlenecks, problems and potential risks. The lack of information about this sector was the motivation for a survey which produced a great deal of information about the situation in the rural tourism business in the Czech Republic. We apply one-dimensional and multiple-dimensional statistical analyses to data from the completed questionnaires. The multiple-dimensional analysis is based on dependency tests and calculations of the intensity of the dependency between variables in contingency tables. The description and findings arise from the quantification and analysis of the information from the questionnaire survey. We find that most firms in the sector are small (so called micro firms) and usually have no links to the agricultural production. The income from tourism frequently represents only a supplementary part of the businesses’ whole revenues and the profitability is to a certain extent dependent on the services offered and how they are promoted. In general, the subjects providing special offers such as horse riding, local foods, firm tourism, etc., are more successful.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
