The use of Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICs) and their institutionalization in Primary Care is a challenge. The objective of this article was to identify difficulties in the management of the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices in São Luís-MA city. An Integrative Review of literature was carried out. We observed the use of PICs to treat specific pathologies with a biomedical perspective. It is concluded that there is still much to be done at the local level to guarantee the population's access to PIC techniques.
