276ChemInform Abstract Electrolysis of the sugar carboxylic acids (I) with the coacids (II) (ratio 1:10) gives satisfactory yields of the unsymmetrical coupling products (III). The sugar carboxylic acids are accessible in a one-step procedure by oxidation of the corresponding protected sugars at a nickel hydroxide electrode; thus, the above reaction offers a simple route to C-C coupling of substituted alkyl moieties with carbohydrates.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
