The process of wind farm operation requires proper logistics services, consisting of the supply of all resources necessary in this process. A critical moment in the operation of wind farms is the implementation of the repowering process, in the form of replacement of the basic elements of wind farms: blades, hub rotors, nacelles or even towers. The replacement of these basic elements of the wind farm relates to the necessity to provide logistics services for heavy and oversized deliveries. Therefore, this article presents a unique analysis of logistics processes related to wind farms. Therefore, the aim of the article is to identify the most energy-saving variant of logistics service of the wind farm repowering process. However, the criterion of selecting the optimal variant is based on the original methodology of energy consumed during logistics services, as opposed to the traditionally used cost-effectiveness criterion. The SolidWorks software with other methods and tools were used for this purpose. As a result of the conducted research, it was found that the differences in individual variants of logistics service implementation may range from 4.7% to even 19.4% in terms of energy savings. Due to the increasingly common need to implement the process of repowering wind farms, the presented original methodology for the analysis and selection of the delivery variant with lowest energy consumption fills the literature gap and formulates a model of business practice, thus constituting both theoretical and practical value.
Sharing economy requires cities to redefine their management strategies. As a consequence of the development of new ideas, the main aim of modern cities should focus on achieving the sustainable use of resources. In the existing literature, only a partial analysis of resources management in cities can be found. For this reason, the authors decided to prepare the framework for empirical research about resources management in sharing economy in cities, especially in the urban logistics system. The main aim of the study is systematizing criteria related to the assessment of the management of urban resources in the era of sharing economy. To achieve the goal of the research, a systematic literature review was made according to chosen approaches and procedures. This resulted in creating a set of criteria for the analysis and evaluation of resources management in urban areas. It contains five areas with 26 criteria and a map of assumed correlations between them. Those outcomes can be used by local authorities or even other urban logistics stakeholders to define or improve their actions aimed at developing a sharing economy services portfolio on the local market. Additionally, they constitute a set of initial information for further scientific research.
Polish companies operating in the market of road transport services do not come only as some background for companies with foreign capital, but they are equal business partners and competitors in this market. Road cargo transport accounts for a major part of the system of transport in Poland and in the European Union. The paper is a comparative analysis of the structure of road transport sector, cost of carrier services in different countries and their economic performance. The paper is aimed at demonstrating that the structure of Polish road transport sector and its economic performance, compared to other EU countries, inhibit Polish entrepreneurs’ adaptation efforts connected with the so-called Mobility Package. Studies have shown that the implementation of proposed changes will deteriorate the competitiveness of Polish carriers, who currently enjoy cost advantage over their competitors, but whose labour productivity is low, economic performance poorer and who suffer from unfavourable structure of road transport.
If one associates the scope of logistics with widely understood logistic competition, looking at logistics through the prism of enterprises competition factor and hence the factor which influences the market, one may also easily find the essential role of logistics in methodological approach concerning the shaping of the market and referring to the assumptions of new industrial economics – the approach that stresses the so‑called dynamics in market structures and is connected with market entries and exits (the mobility of market players) as well as with power and domination in the market, problems of appearing and disappearing of the businesses (businesses demography) other than competition between the forms of market coordination. This paper focuses on one of the most fundamental areas of new industrial economics, such as market entries and exits and barriers to them, which may be of logistic type. That is why the purpose of this article is to identify and characterise logistic barriers to market entries and exists. The paper is based on critical analysis, system analysis and hermeneutic methods.
